What is nine/twelve?
nine/twelve is an independent feature film being shot in and around Chicago in 2012. It is the story of two men in the days before and after the most horrific terrorist attack on American soil. Bilal Hamid is a decorated American soldier and Jason Noble a hardworking blue-collar American. Both are reeling from the aftereffects of the day their homeland lost its innocence. And both find plenty in each other to condemn. When fate brings these two men together in a cloud of mystery and violence, Bilal and Jason must come to terms with what really binds them - there are no villains among victims.
Why are you making this movie?
We wanted to tell a story that hadn’t been told before. But perhaps should have been. Since 9/11, we have been a nation of both healing and violence, of guilt and innocence, and of war and peace. We have looked for people to blame for all the evil we have suffered. Sometimes we found our enemies to be oceans away. Sometimes we feared our enemies lived amongst us. We still carry the scars of that horrible day - as a nation and as individuals. And as storytellers and filmmakers, we wanted to tell a story though voices not commonly heard in film. We’ve set out to make a movie about finding light at the end of the tunnel. We hope you’ll come along for the ride. This is not a Hollywood movie. This is an American movie.
Who are the filmmakers?
Our cast and crew is made up talented industry professionals. Please visit www.ninetwelvethefilm.com
to learn all about us. But then come back here. Because it’s not just the filmmakers – we are all making this movie together. This is your film as much as it is ours.
Are you seriously making an entire feature film on a $100,000 budget?
Actually, no. Our shooting budget is more than four times that - just over $400,000. But we are pursuing a number of different fundraising options to get to that number. We want to be realistic – optimistic, but realistic – about how much money we can raise through kickstarter. But, hey, it would be awesome if you proved us wrong. The closer we can get to 400 here, the less we need to turn to other traditional funding sources. So no matter what the number says, please keep donating. And, even more importantly, please keep spreading the word.
You know what would be awesome?
As a matter of fact, we do. What if we could find 400 people to give us a thousand dollars each? That would be awesome. It’s unlikely we’re going to meet one person capable of donating 400,000. But could we find 400 who could get us a thousand dollars closer to our dream? We think so. We could be the family of 400. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Let’s be awesome together. Actually, you know what? What ever you can help us with would be incredibly awesome. We really believe in this project. Come believe with us.
So you’re saying we can exceed the goal?
YES! What an amazing problem to have. Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. Maybe that would mean a more widespread theater release, or more unique physical copy packaging. The possibilities are endless.
Can I Gift An Incentive?
YES! Spectacular idea. If you would like to donate to the film but give the reward to someone as a gift, go through all the normal process of making a donation in your name. For billing purposes, this action must be in your name. After our deadline, we will send a message to you on Kickstarter. (It will be forwarded to the email address you provided) Please reply with all the person’s information that is to receive the reward. We will make sure they are the person who receives the reward.
How will you get my number or skype name?
Once we cross our deadline we will immediately go through all incentives for everyone involved. You will get a message from us requesting information from you. At that time, please reply to us as soon as possible so that we can complete your incentive.
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made?
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
What happens if the money isn’t raised in time?
Unfortunately nothing. If our goal isn’t met before the deadline, no money changes hands and no movie is made. We want to avoid this scenario at all cost!
How do we contact you?
Glad you asked! You can contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org . We check it. We will get back to you. We promise!
Is nine/twelve a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization?
Unfortunately this is not setup as a non-profit. The money you give through kickstarter is pure, raw, gift.
If I donate, when can I redeem the incentive?
All incentives, big and small, will only happen if our goal is met. If we do meet our goal, immediately after our deadline, it will be our priority to schedule the more personal incentives as soon as possible. You will hear from us. (More on this as we get closer to our deadline)
Who does the money go to?
Every penny (minus the fees for Kickstarter’s involvement and paypal fees) will go directly to the nine/twelve movie budget - i.e. Your money goes directly to the funding of this film.
Any other questions? Just ask us. We’d love to answer them.
