Monthly Update
This is the thirteenth in a series of monthly updates we'll be posting on the last Saturday of every month (JST) until Tokyo Dark's release. If you want to follow development in more detail and you are an [ Access Pack ] + backer remember to drop into the Tokyo Dark backer's forum for our weekly updates every Saturday. If weekly and monthly updates aren't quite enough, you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook for your midweek Cherrymochi fix.
[ Around The World ]
Wow! July has been a crazy busy month for us, so again we've got quite a lot to cover in this update! Tokyo Dark has been on the road in Japan, USA and Europe, we've had lots of great feedback, met inspirational players, backers & devs and have been moving forward with production at a good rate. Lots of good news to report this month.
[ BitSummit ]
The first great news to share is that Tokyo Dark won the best in show `Vermilion Gate` Grand Jury award at Bitsummit Kyoto – Japan's largest independent game festival.
We were also nominated for the `Magical Presence Award` and the Dengeki PlaySation (Japanese gaming magazine) `Kiteru Indie Award` (indies on the rise award). We've been completely blown away by the love and support Tokyo Dark is receiving in Japan.
Bitsummit was the first (and only) festival the team in Japan have been able to attend so far, so it was a fantastic experience meeting some of our backers, many incredible developers and introducing Tokyo Dark to new players for the first time.
While at Bitsummit Maho was able to chat to Igarashi san (Bloodstained) and thanked him for bringing so many new backers to Kickstarter. We know that many of you first noticed Tokyo Dark after checking out Bloodstained, which ran its campaign over the same period as us. IGA was really kind and a pleasure to meet.
Winning the Vermilion Gate award has filled us with confidence that we're taking the game in the right direction and that development is going well. We're very proud that our small team's hard work, love and passion for Tokyo Dark is really starting to show... and it's nice to have a shiny award for the office! :)
[ Famitsu Magazine ]
Since Bitsummit, Famitsu (Japan's most popular gaming magazine) has featured Tokyo Dark, the game seems to be building quite a buzz here in Japan.
[ Dengeki Playstation Magazine ]
As well as Famitsu, Tokyo Dark is in the current issue of Dengeki Playstation Magazine, where it has been chosen by game designer Suda51 (Killer7, No More Heros etc.) and magazine staff as one of the games nominated for it's `indies on the rise` award.
[ San Diego Comic-con ]
Thanks to the awesome team at Square Enix Collective, Tokyo Dark was playable at San Diego Comic-con this month. It's been great to hear that folk in the USA are enjoying the game as much as their fellow game lovers in Japan.

[ Wiki ]
We've recently partnered with Curse, Inc. to host the Official Tokyo Dark Wiki on Gamepedia. They know much more about running wikis than we ever will and with all the secrets and hidden endings buried in Tokyo Dark we think that an official wiki will be the perfect way for players to share what they find.
Though there is not much on our wiki for now, we'll be expanding it after release and welcome you (especially all you [ Access Pack ] backers who have already played the opening chapter) to jump into the wiki and start adding to it. We're excited to see it grow. You can follow the link to the wiki from http://www.tokyodark.com/
[ Animation production ]
Animatics for the cutscenes are all looking great and we hope we'll be able to move into final art production soon. Here's a little behind the scenes look at a rough key frame animatic for one of the animated sequences we're working on:
[ Things we like ]
Though their Kickstarter campaign ended awhile ago they are currently raising stretch goal funds via backerkit for voice acting. Their backerkit closes August 1st! Only a few days left! So if you're interested, go support them now!
Thank you so much for your continued support, trust and enthusiasm, it means everything to us! Without you backers there would be no Tokyo Dark. We ♥ you guys.
That's all for now.
We'll be back with our next monthly update on Saturday August 27th.
