Monthly Update
This is the ninth in a series of monthly updates we'll be posting on the last Saturday of every month (JST) until Tokyo Dark's release. If you want to follow development in more detail and you are an [ Access Pack ] + backer remember to drop into the Tokyo Dark backer's forum for our weekly updates every Saturday. If weekly and monthly updates aren't quite enough, you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook for your midweek Cherrymochi fix.
[ Square Enix Collective ]
First, some big news this month!
We're very happy to announce that Tokyo Dark will be published by Square Enix Collective. SEC have been incredibly supportive of Tokyo Dark since we first appeared on the Collective site for initial feedback in early 2015. Over the past year they have helped us with promotion & our Kickstarter campaign. (Many of you probably first heard of Tokyo Dark via SEC!)
Working with SEC opens some fantastic opportunities, the most important of these are the promotion, marketing and distribution of Tokyo Dark. As a small indie studio visibility is one of the biggest challenges we face. It's a crowded market, and many games get lost in the crowd.
Square Enix Collective will use their resources and connections to help spread the word about Tokyo Dark to a much larger audience than we could ever reach alone.
To kick things off, SEC will be showing Tokyo Dark at EGX Rezzed in London April 7th -9th. It will our first time showing the game to the public, so if you're in London or heading to Rezzed please check it out!
Square Enix Collective are not contributing to Tokyo Dark's production budget and the IP for Tokyo Dark remains with Cherrymochi, so there won't be any changes to the production of the game. All creative decisions and direction remain fully our own.
As well as marketing and distribution SEC will be providing QA testing to help us bring you a polished experience.
This all means that we can spend more of our time, energy and budget on telling a great story rather than marketing and we'll have a very experienced team support us when releasing the game.
If you have any questions about the Square Enix Collective please share them in the comments below. - Jon
[ Soundtrack ]
Development of the soundtrack is going well, Bison has been adding some new tools to his studio and creating some incredible sounds that are making the world of Tokyo Dark come alive! Here's a little taste of one of the tracks he's been working on:
[ Part of the Game ]
As you explore the streets of Tokyo you'll come across an interesting mix of characters, some might look familiar to [ Part of the game ] and [ Executive producer ] tier backers.
We'll be in touch with all [ Part of the game ] and [ Executive producer ] tier backers individually over the next few months to share your final artwork and finish up the necessary paperwork to add your characters to the game.
[ Things we like ]
"Death is only the beginning..."
"KULT: DIVINITY LOST is a reboot of the highly acclaimed and infamous contemporary horror role-playing game."
We love the setting and atmosphere of KULT and looking forward to this updated addition. If you're interested in dark contemporary tabletop role playing games then check this one out!
That's all for now.
We'll be back with our next monthly update on Saturday 30th April.
Have a great month!
