New Game + Unlocked & News

 Hi there, Jon here,

You've done it again! I turn my back to go to pour a cup of tea and BOOOM another stretch goal smashed! This time New game + or [ Déjà vu ] mode.

This mode will become unlocked once you finish your first play-through of the game. From then on when you start a new game you'll be able to choose between [ New game ] or [ Déjà vu ] Déjà vu mode will be more challenging, with Itō's grasp on reality significantly lower, Why does she remember doing all this before?

"Someone once told me, 'Time is a flat circle.' Everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over and over again." - Rust Cohle, True Detective.

As well as increased sanity management difficulty, new scenes will be added where Detective Itō gets flashes of the future (past?) these add an extra element to the game where Itō can see the direct consequences of her actions. [ Déjà vu ] mode will also add another (very challenging) ending, bringing the total to 11

Next up is [ Fan-sub support ]

 New Stretch goals?

We've been receiving messages asking if and when we will announce further stretch goals to bring Tokyo Dark to other platforms. We'd like to make it clear that we won't be adding stretch goals for other platforms to our Kickstarter. To simultaneously multi-platform develop we would need to expand our team, buy new hardware, get dev-kits, move into a new studio and switch engines. Though not impossible at the start of the campaign, the funds we would need to raise makes it unrealistic for us at this point. We are fully focused on creating the best possible game on Windows and Mac.

We've been overwhelmed by everyone's enthusiasm for Tokyo Dark, but to a select few, though your passion is fantastic please do remember we are a small indie team. We are not team Igarashi, with endless resources (though we do love them – super excited for Bloodstained!) We're open to any discussions, but when you message us please try and remain polite, friendly and positive. :)

Limited Editions update:

Only 2 [ Total Packs ] left when writing this, so if you'd like the hardback art-book and box-set now might just be your last chance!

Finally onto shout outs:

As hack`n`slash fans (who doesn't like letting off some steam in Samurai Warriors!) We really like the look of Umbra by by SolarFall Games. They've just announced details of the in-game housing system and it looks great, so if you like hacking and slashing this one is definitely worth checking out.

Hi, Just wanted to say I totally agree with the decision to stick with windows+mac versions, that to me is a realistic goal and importantly those platforms actually suit this type of game! (Not to mention as you already stated there would be massive resource and technology differences with vastly more money required, which everyone sensible knows you do not have and cannot realistically raise in this kickstarter).

I'd rather see limited platforms with a game done well than a kickstarter where every platform is thrown in where you could be splitting resources and compromising focus on each platform (if people think that is not a problem they should look at what happened to the [still ongoing] Godus kickstarter!).

Oh boy... Deja vu mode sounds pretty interesting. ^^

Deja vu is like a TRUE FINAL CHAPTER with more challenging and that's where you get a TRUE ENDING+(like there's more) rather than True ending. getting a port requires a bigger team and money so I agree that making unrealistic promises is a bad idea since they are just 3 man team :)

Remember not to go overboard with the stretch goals, better not to promise too much and then fail to deliver. I'm sure more people will back this game just because they want it, not because of some extra stretch goals.

      Can't wait for this!

Well, that answered my question earlier today about New Game +.
