My name is Lydia Ramsey, I live in Seattle WA and am preparing to record my first full length album, Bandita. This album will showcase a collection of my most recent, and most favorite songs, and I'm thrilled to be collaborating with many talented musicians to bring this album to life.
I have been performing for around 8 years, and until now these songs have only been heard in a live setting. I'm honored to have played many prominent venues in Seattle, including a very special show at Benaroya Hall last year. After playing so many shows where I had nothing to offer attendees, I can't tell you how excited I am to soon have a way people can take my music home with them!
I grew up in a house filled with music. My parents are both musicians and supported our family with their craft for many years when my brothers and I were growing up. I think there are more instruments than pieces of furniture in their house! Music has been a very important part of my life since I was born. I’ve got music running deep through my heart and soul, and believe it’s the most genuine avenue for inspiration, joy, healing, and for drawing out the deeper emotions we need to experience.
Kickstarter is an amazing platform because it allows people to create their art the way they want, with the help of their community. The funds raised through Kickstarter will go toward studio time, engineering, mixing and mastering, musicians, manufacturing the physical album, the album art and design, and a PR campaign to help the music reach people once the album is finished. Having the ability to track the songs in the studio is vital to the creation of this album, allowing the songs to be properly captured and presented.
This album will be created with YOUR help!
Risks and challenges
One of the greatest challenges when producing something original is overcoming self-doubt and honoring your self-worth. Time and again that voice in our head creeps up whispering: it's not good enough, why would anyone care, who am I to think I have a gift, it's too hard, it'll take forever, what's the point, and on and on as far as we'll let it go. But then you realize life is just too short and too beautiful to live with that stifling mentality, and with some help from your fab community you grab a guitar and get to writing! We say it takes a village to raise a child, but we really need that village throughout our entire lives.
I'm so grateful for the amazing encouragement and support from you all!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
