About

We are four social start-ups from Belarus trying to make social impact by selling cool products and services. We also want to be an example for other Belarusians spreading the word ‘that everyone with a dream, curiosity and will power can do anything!’ This phrase may sound a bit cheesy but trust us, this is exactly what Belarus needs!

Who we are? It is a bit more challenging to stuff 4 social startup stories in one kickstarter campaign. But hey ho, remember the Will power we mentioned above? We are 4 social startups trying to do some good in Belarus by reinvesting a big part of our profit into our social mission. We found each other through an awesome educational program that helped us grow: Biz4all.

Let us start by telling you about who we are and what we have to offer so you will get a better picture.

Scroll down for social businesses: Grown up centre, babysitter.by and Inclusive theatre.

Social Start-up 'Tikota Unique'

The clothing brand TIKOTA UNIQUE has been founded in 2012 by Catherine Tikota, who is a great fashion designer and businesswoman in one! Tikota Unique has become one of the most successful, recognised and sold brands of clothes in Belarus.

The mission of Tikota is to make fashionable but still comfortable quality clothing for everyone. And with everyone we mean EVERYONE! With her brand ‘Tikota Inclusive’ is making clothing for men and women in wheelchair, as they often need special clothing, particularly pants. Catherina works together with a team of experts, designers and people in wheelchairs to create the most suitable clothing for them. A little more information you can find here: TIKOTA INCLUSIVE - http://tikota.com/inclusive

Also as a newly mom that breastfeeds she understands the need of fashionable yet comfortable clothes for women who breastfeed. She created Tikota Mama brand a year ago! TIKOTA MAMA - http://tikota.com/mama http://tikota.com/post-reliz

Another social mission of Tikota is to promote Belarusian language through the creation of cool and fashionable T-Shirts which are called Nasha Mova, meaning Our language. These are shirts with specific and very recognisable phrases uniting Belarusians all over the world because when wearing them we let the world know that although we might not speak this mysterious language daily, we love it and carry it in our hearts! The phrases on the shirts are made up by Catherine herself using her life as the biggest inspiration.

For this crowdfunding campaign Tikota has prepared 4 different design of t-shirts and a sweater from her special collection Nasha Mova and one that she has created together with Masha Cheriakova, who is a Dutch/Belarusian entrepreneur, writer and upcoming artist! The T-shirts and sweaters are sewn with love right in Minsk from high quality fabrics from Turkish raw materials. When you get a Tikota shirt, you will not only look amazing you will also support Tikota’s social mission to promotion of Belarusian language. Moreover 10% of the profit she makes from the sales of the T-shirts and sweaters will go to the making of more clothing for people in a wheelchair, Tikota’s Inclusive brand. This will help Tikota to lower the prices for special pants for women and men in wheelchairs from 80 Euro to 70 Euro, so everyone can enjoy this amazing quality and fit! Everyone!

Tikota’s packages for you:

Package 1: A t-shirt with Tikota’s classic print: ‘Я ТРУ, ТЫ ТРЭШ: ME TRUE, YOU TRASH’ - This phrase helped Catherina to dream big and to listen to herself. With this print started the first series of Tikota’s T-shirts.

Package 2: A sweater with the following saying: ЛЁС СКЛАЎСЯ ТАК - meaning something like ‘C'EST LA VIE’ and has become one of the favourites to give away as a present.

Package 3: A t-shirt with ‘Гары Гавары Маўчы’. meaning: Fire up, speak up and shut up. This is the life phrase of Catherina.

Package 4: A sweater or an art piece? Well this sweater is a combination of both! Have you ever wanted to wear an art piece? Well today is your chance. This is a painting of Minsk made by Masha Cheriakova. This hoodie will keep you warm and you will be able to promote Minsk and Belarus in an artsy kind of way.

Social start-up 'Centre for grown-ups'

Please meet Dima and Elena and another Elena, Co-founders of ‘Centre for grown-up’’! Their mission is to make sure that grownups who reached their pension age in Belarus, which is 55 years old, stay active, make new friends and feel like their lives just began!

Dima and Elena
Dima and Elena
Another Elena
Another Elena

They created a space for elderly where they learn foreign languages (it's never too late to learn French!), Master this annoying computer to finally call their grandkids in the US (without any technical explanations from their kids), attend psychological trainings, dance or do any other sports. Their space offers more than 30 courses for elderly people! Although they started only 6 months ago, they have already more than 500 active and returning members.

Their team exists of more 20 experienced teachers, psychologists, social workers, and volunteers who will make sure to give everyone a great learning experience, high service and fun!

Dima and the two Elena’s believe time has come to focus on elderly people in Belarus because people are getting older and older, while some people can get some support from their children and family, some don't have this opportunity. Many elderly people stay in Belarus while their children make careers abroad creating challenges for both children and parents. That is why it's important to empower elderly people to stay active, learn new things, make new friends who share same interest, to get rid of loneliness and have fun!

We have three packages for you from the grownup centre:

Package 5: A voucher for 8 classes of choice for your grown-up relative or friend in Belarus. He or She can choose from more than 30 courses, Including aerobics, yoga, language courses and more!

Package 6: Student helps a grownup! For this package the Grownup centre is working together with babysitter.by. Babysitter.by is a social enterprise connecting students with parents and elderly people. Students can help the elderly in household, accompany them to a hospital, opera or shopping, teach them how to use those complicated new technology tools or just to chat with them while walking through the park.

A year ago Elvira launched her startup babysitter.by that connects students with young parents. They have grown much and connected 400 young parents with a nanny. ‘All our 200 students are tested by a psychologist for professional suitability, also our babysitter school teaches them soft skills and first medical aid. We realised that students can and want to not only look after children, but also actively help elderly people. After running several successful pilots babysitter.by is confident to start this project!’

This voucher costs 30 Euro and is good for a total of 4 hours Student - Elderly visit. This can be divided for example into 2 visits of 2 hours. After a short introduction meeting the student and the elderly person will decide what the program will be for this 4 hours. This can be anything from: a good conversation, to a visit of an opera or ballet, from a walk in a park to a visit to a hospital.

Package 7: In June, Dima and one Elena met with activists and founders of "Cycling without age" movement; Ole Kasov and Pernila Busson from Denmark. They wanted to help the elderly get back on their bicycles, there was only one problem: their limited mobility. The solution was a trishaw!

After this meeting, they decided to bring a bike like this to Minsk so that they can also start their own movement! They want to make sure that Grownups with limited mobility can experience active movement, freedom and to feel socially-active again. That is why our third package is a contribution to this bike. The prize of this bike is: 5000 Euro (bike costs) and 1000 Euro more for the Shipping costs.

Support Dima, Elena and Elena for 50 Euro. And for your support you will get a personalised postcard made by our grownups specially for you! Also a trip with the Trishaw will be named after you!

Social Startup 'Family Inclusive theater'

Three years ago, Irina Kiseleva founded ‘Family Inclusive-theater "i"’. Irina wanted to create a space where every child can express her or his creativity: to perform, dance, act and play, regardless of their abilities and special needs. Irina is a great choreographer that found a team of directors, producers, writers and musicians working together with her to create an inclusive space for all children!

‘Family Inclusive-theater’ is a social enterprise offering weekly classes and performance opportunities to children and teenagers, including children with autism. They are a modern theater with classical and modern choreography, plastic, vocal, elements of dramatic and comedic genres.

At this moment they have more than 90 children participating in the theatre, 30% of them are children with autism. In the past three years the Family inclusive theatre has performed with five different shows at theatres, festivals and special events.

Today they would like to challenge their children with a new and very modern comedy theatre called Heta Belarus dzietka! For those who are new to this project (shame on you:): It is a bestselling book on everything that makes Belarusians unique in the eye of foreigners. Together with Heta Belarus dzietka team they decided to make a theatre out of the book. So that more people can enjoy and celebrate Belarusianess with us!

The theatre show will be spoken in English and Belarusian, making this a very unique show for Belarus. We can reveal a bit about the storyline, just don’t tell anyone else!

2 girls from the famous and bestselling book Heta Belarus dzietka are preparing for their first trip to Belarus. In the first part they fantasise about this mysterious country covering all stereotypes, in the second part they find themselves in Belarus, and find out that not all stereotypes are true. This is a theatre show that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. And the best part is, it is played by children who are always a great mirror for us grownups!'

As the script for the show is already written, we can finally start rehearsing. However, before we can start we need some financial help with: production process of the play, decorations and costumes. Making it a total price of 5 000 Euro.

We offer to our backers a special chance to be the first to see this theatre show! You can now support the making of this theatre and in return get yourself or your loved once two tickets for the premiere of ‘Heta Belarus dzietka” theatre show performed by Inclusive theatre!

Package from Family inclusive theatre Package 8: 2 tickets for the premiere of Heta Belarus dzietka theatre performed by Family Inclusive Theatre on the 25 of January 2019!

Support us to show everyone in Belarus the importance of creativity, arts, inclusiveness, and connections, and all this during a warm and funny theatre show performed by children!

How we found each other?

We know each other from an accelerator program called Biz4all, which has offered us education, networking opportunity and a place to grow. More specific Biz4all is an International education program for social startups in Belarus brought to life by 3 NGO’s, ODB Brussels, TNU and New Faces. ODB Brussels is the main organizer of this crowdfunding campaign. ODB has been focusing on the promotion and education of social entrepreneurship in Belarus for over 5 years now. They have organised many projects on social entrepreneurship, dozens of conferences, but with pride they can say that the biggest impact they have made was Biz4all program. Biz4all is an educational program focusing on providing an online and offline education to more than 600 Belarusian social entrepreneurs. While the educational part is finished we would like to bring it to the next level and show the world and especially to all Kickstarter fans what we have build and what more we have to offer!

Package 9: Biz4all come back! We would love to educate more Belarusians on how to build and grow their social enterprises by organising another educational program for 20 carefully selected social entrepreneurs starting in 2019. We believe and know from our experience that education and inspiration are the two most important tools to grow social entrepreneurs. That is why this program will include:

A 3 months education program for 20 Belarusians. Access to 30 Online modules on how to start and grow your Social enterprise. 3 Offline trainings with 2 local and 1 International trainer. Networking possibilities 6 months Coaching sessions

Help us to realise this education program for social entrepreneurs by supporting us for 200 Euro. As a thank you, you will receive a personal video message from 2 social entrepreneurs pitching their social impact!

Package 10: Study trip package: As we believe education is a key to empower and inspire people to make a change, we want to organise a study trip for 10 Belarusian social entrepreneurs to three countries in Europe. When you see other people doing amazing things, you get inspired and you want to be part of it in some way or another. This is what we want to give to our participants. We want them to taste European examples of social entrepreneurship, we want them to build new connections, and, of course, to bring some more ideas back home. We would like to organise a 2 week study trip for 10 of our participants to the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. During this study trip we will connect them to social entrepreneurs working in similar areas, so they can learn from each other that may result in fruitful partnerships.

Help us to bring social entrepreneurs abroad so they can study and get inspired by other European social entrepreneurs, for 250 Euro.

If it happens that we will raise 10% more than our target amount, we will spend this money on educating 2 more Belarusians social entrepreneurs, making it a total of 22 Belarusians instead of 20. If we raise over 20% we will educate 4 more social entrepreneurs, making it 24 social entrepreneurs.

Developing social entrepreneurship in Belarus is a great way to empower Belarusians to make a positive change in their own lives and lives of other people. Many Belarusians have no idea about what social enterprise is. With your support we can educate and develop social entrepreneurship in a sustainable way, independent from grants and fundings.

As a thank you you will receive a personal video from two social enterprises which will be made during their study trip! In this video the social entrepreneurs will share with you all that they have learned!

Risks and challenges

Risks are low. All of us are selling our products and services for a while now. however there is always a risk that one of the startups might be delayed while sewing or organising the packages. but we promise to keep everyone updated if any delay may occur.
