UPDATED GOAL: $15,000
"A Pound of Kindness" is a children’s book about a child with a severe physical disability whose life is a changed when a fellow student performs an act of unforgettable kindness. This story is based on a true-life account of Dave Clark, a first grader suffering from polio, who was shown compassion by classmate Ernie Pound. Unknown to each other, both boys grow up to compete in professional sports.
A first-grade boy, Dave Clark, who lost the use of his legs to Polio and walks with heavy braces and crutches is riddled with anxiety when his teacher announces a walking field trip to the local fire station that is several blocks away. Young Dave Clark never forgot the act of kindness of his classmate, “Ernie Pound”, who brought his Radio Flyer Wagon to school to pull Dave. Dave Clark, after an amazing career where he played, coached and/or scouting at every level of professional baseball from crutches, made sure to thank Ernie Pound for his kindness in his book. They reconnected for the first time in Fifty years at a book signing where the emotions swelled with tears of joy.

GOAL #1: $5,000
1. A Pound of Kindness - We want to get this book made, and $5,000 is the bare minimum we need to complete the book and get it published.
2. WE DID IT! Thanks to all of our amazing backers we’ve crossed our first goal in less than a week! Now on to goal #2:
GOAL #2: $15,000
1. Help us bring more Disability, Dream, and Do sports camps to children and young adults with all different kinds of disabilities. The camps are FREE for the families, and part of the heart behind telling Dave & Ernie's story in a children's book is to use some of the proceeds to help facilitate more of these camps and create more inspiring moments for these amazing children.
2. Spread A Pound of Kindness even further! #aPOUNDofKINDNESS is more than a children's book, it's a movement of kindness. We want to print more copies than just for our pre-orders so we can spread this inspiring true story of kindness to children's homes, hospitals, and schools all around the world.

Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge is getting a story that has a positive impact to catch fire and spread. We need help in spreading the word about this campaign. Please join Team "A Pound of Kindness" and help us remind the world that kindness can make a difference.
The bigger the response to this Kickstarter the lower the cost per book. Also, the success of this book will help Dave & Doug continue to organize the Disability Dream & Do events for years to come. These camps impact thousands of lives each year.
The goal of $5,000 is just the beginning goal. Our hope is that we exceed 10s of thousands. With this, we will be more able to visit children's homes, Ronald McDonald type houses, and schools with this story of kindness.
More stories about Dave Clark and others with disabilities are already in the pipeline. This Kickstarter is truly a launching of great things to come. We look forward to sharing the other stories very soon, but none of this happens without a wonderful response first.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more. Please direct any other questions to email@example.com.
