A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Recent medical research has concluded that sitting for extended periods is so unhealthy that the term “sitting disease” is being used to describe it. Mayo Clinic Article - CLICK HERE
SitTight transforms sitting into an activity that improves your health, instead of damaging it.
The key to reversing the negative effects of sitting is found in our body’s natural ability to balance. Balancing causes an increase in heart rate from the activation of core muscles (promoting better posture), an increase in brain activity (as the central nervous system controls those muscles) and a sensation similar to riding a bicycle.
Our innovative chair delivers FITNESS for your body, FOCUS for your mind and FUN for your spirit.
As Seen On...
You might be asking yourself "How can I get fit while I sit?" and that is where Balanced Active Sitting™ comes into play.
Medical Explanation (Health Benefits):
Don't just take our word for it we have worked with professionals in the field of medicine, physical therapy, chiropractics and fitness to make sure the claims we make with the chair are accurate. Check out the above video to learn the health benefits of Balance Active Sitting™
TUTORIAL - Build Up To Fitness (3 Levels):
Most people will have to build up their core fitness and balance to fully utilize the power of the chair. Start with your feet on the ground and in small increments move your feet onto the base to engage in Balance Active Sitting™. Watch the video above which explains the process.
Tilt Guard: Protection Ring Limits Tilt to 15 Degrees
Inflatable Sphere: High Grade Rubber
Multiple Sitting Positions: Active Sitting and Balanced Active Sitting™
In-order to make sure the SitTight Chair is safe we've integrated "Tilt Guard Protection" so that the chair will only tilt to a maximum of 15 degrees.
Here is how we came up with the idea...
SitTight was "born" on April 25, 2011, when our founder Scott climbed out of a swimming pool, sat down on a lounge chair, looked down at his stomach and asked himself, "Why am I getting so darn fat?" It occurred to him that his body was changing because he had recently accepted a desk job after years of being very active. He knew that he was going to have to find a way to burn calories while he was sitting at a desk or the situation was going to get much worse.
The "Eureka Moment" came when he recalled using
balance equipment in his workouts years' prior. He
remembered that he had burned a lot more calories
when he was balancing while doing his workouts. He
felt that if he could create a chair that required him to balance while he was sitting, he might have the solution to his deteriorating health. He immediately got up from the lounge chair that he was sitting on and sketched out his idea.
Scott worked with medical experts to insure his design would provide the health benefits that he wanted to achieve, and from there partnered with a world-class manufacturer and created multiple prototypes in-order to bring a great chair to market. After almost 6 years (yes...more than half a decade) of working on the project we are confident in the chair we are delivering to backers on Kickstarter!

Most of us met each other while working in the electronic payments industry and other industries over the last three decades. In some cases, we had a customer/vendor relationship and later became business partners as we invested in companies together. We each bring a unique skill set to SitTight that is necessary to execute on our business plan.
Risks and challenges
Now that the molds have been produced and the assembly process has been tested, while building a number of preproduction units, the only unknown is capacity. We believe that we can produce over 1500 units per month with our current tooling. Demand beyond that may require additional tooling, which could potentially cause a delay with fulfillment. :)
