BroomStache: BroomStache is a family of well-groomed brooms and brushes designed by Los Angeles architect, Dino Tadiar. Hand-crafted by local artisans, BroomStaches are thoughtfully constructed from durable American white oak remnants to be heavy-duty, yet light on the environment.
We need your support for the initial production run of the first set of BroomStaches.
Our Vision: We believe that no product should be mundane, and that even mundane tasks like sweeping should be enjoyable. So we re-imagined the broom in the image of perhaps the most celebrated expression of human individuality: the mustache. The result? Sweeping is fun again, for the very first time.
Sustainable, and Sustaining:
Great design extends beyond aesthetics: today’s customers rightly demand sound construction and sustainable materials. Each of our BroomStaches will be hand-crafted by local artisans from American white oak remnants otherwise destined to become particle board. Like your father’s worn-in leather briefcase, products made from natural materials grow in both character and beauty over time. This means that our brooms will not only last longer than the cheaply-constructed plastic brooms they’ll replace, they’ll look better in the process. It's conscious design that is both sustainable, and sustaining.
Our goal: We've gotten great reviews on our prototypes and would like to introduce BroomStache to the world. Our initial production run will include Charlie, Handel and Lenny. In turn, sales from these brooms will allow us to produce the entire BroomStache family.
In today's complicated, tech-driven world, the BroomStache family takes us back to a time when the products humans interacted with on a daily basis were constructed by...humans. It's about taking a step back from the mass-produced, injection-molded products that surround us, and instead, injecting the human element into our daily lives.
Yes, We Wood:
We take the construction of BroomStaches seriously: each broom or brush core will be constructed from durable American white oak, which was selected for its density, strength, resilience, and water-resistance. Historically used in the construction of Craftsman furniture, ocean-going ships, and even ancient weapons, white oak allows BroomStache to handle your roughest jobs, sweep after sweep. After each broom or brush core is cut and finished, we fit them with the finest horse hair (hand- and handle-brushes) or a blend of natural and synthetic anti-static bristles (brooms) to create the highest-quality sweeping tools found anywhere.
Beyond the satisfaction that comes from using an effective, well-constructed tool, we found that for our testers, the real joy came from the utter hilarity of pushing and pulling a mustache around their house. We can't wait to see your all your faces when you get BroomStaches in your hands...it's seriously funny.
Why a Broom?: This is the question we got most often when introducing BroomStache to our testers. The answer? It's a humble, neglected instrument valued only for its function, with designs and materials that haven't been re-visited in decades. We saw an opportunity to take a dreaded product for a dreaded task, and transform it into a treasured item that creates joyful moments...mission accomplished.
The BroomStache Family:
Without our team we, wouldn't have gotten this far: special thanks to Dave Singh, Albert Cervantes and Mauro Trejo, who have worked tirelessly to get this project to this point. Special thanks to our photographer, Annette Farol, and stylist, Jasmine Hebreo. Many many thanks to our family and friends, who have listened for hours on end (often in confusion) as we talked through broom and brush aesthetics and ergonomics.

Against the Grain:
BroomStache stands for quality construction and working locally with artful artisans. That said, the tough part is finding funding to support the reversing trend of creating hand-crafted products. The awesome part is that you'll be part of a movement that means much more than BroomStache. People purchase everyday products out of necessity only to find out that these products don't have any meaning. Companies spend huge dollars on marketing campaigns to manufacture stories for their otherwise lifeless products.
Our brooms and brushes bristle with personality, and it's our hope that you'll pass them down to your children and your children's children. The BroomStache family is a way to have fun with enduring, beautiful, natural products.
Deliverables and the Future:
Our first production run will only include what we are currently capable of creating. We are excited to bring to the market the hand brushes, Charlie and Handel, and our signature sweeper, Lenny.
Sweeping the nation off its feet:
We'd like to grow, however, we recognize that these products aren't for everyone. The challenge will be to find and attract customers who share our vision, and to grow BroomStache in a thoughtful way. This means staying true to our vision and principles, which won't always align with the bottom line.
But at the end of the day, knowing that a community of backers like you exist is what keeps us going - thank you for your support, and for supporting the (sometimes crazy) creative talents around you.
