Hmm. I'm not so sure about the ley lines. The paths of power is an interesting idea but as soon as positioning on the table becomes more important than whatever feels narritive natural flow of the game then it starts to feel very out of character like an arcade game and loses a lot of the sense of immersion and fun for me.
If it's something really important like holding a vital spot or protecting some priests or shamans as they perform a ritual then that's going with the natural flow. If it's "I'll walk away from him to shoot him better" then that starts to feel a bit silly. I suppose it'll all become clear later on.
Cool Concept. Once you gain your benefit permanent? or does it go away when you move off of the path?
