We test drove the parlor car yesterday.
Steering works well but takes getting used to. Brakes are okay. Shifting really is horrible. I think this is due to two things. One; we bought the cheapest parts known to man. Two; common derailleurs don't allow shifting when not moving and just don't shift well under load, especially not a 3/4 ton load. So, I just now ordered two 9 Speed internally geared hubs. These shift when stopped and under load. They have 340% range which seems like it will be fine as I now think we are not going to need the top end so much. Of course we haven't test driven yet with four people. But I think the hub gears will solve all of our problems and make the bike work better too. I better get back to welding those paddles. Two days till we push it in the bay.
