AN INTERACTIVE KIDS OUTDOOR APPAREL BRAND.
My name is Shannon and I am the founder of LSO (Littlest Sidekick Outfitters).
I would describe my company as "Rent The Runway meets Geo-Caching - FOR KIDS!"
Through quality made outdoor apparel & utilizing technology, I created an experience! With each piece of clothing purchased from us, a specific code comes with your new gear. With this code, head over to our website, insert it into our ThreadTrail system and you'll be able to see the journey that your new LSO clothing has been on.
With the speed at which kids grow, our system, The ThreadTrail, allows for the you, the parent, to purchase our gear, let your kids wear it and then return it within 6-12 months to receive a hefty discount towards the next size up. This way, you get a portion of your funds back in order to accommodate the next size your child has now grown into.
On our website platform, we have a virtual log that will allow the stories to live on. This way the kids and parents can go through and read about all the adventure as well as add their own when done. Shipping is on us and we provide the shipping bag for the clothing to be sent back.
Through our system, while wearing our outdoor gear, we want to share our memories we create. Building a community of other little explorers while sharing their different adventures together.
From our interactive platform all the way to our interactive packaging.
Interactive Box | Have your little explorer, draw what they found on the trails or their favorite adventure within the photo frames in the box. You can take a snapshot of it and either send it to us via email, Instagram, or Facebook and we'll showcase them in our newsletter! Bonus: Keep the box so they can have somewhere to house all the sticks, leaves, and rocks found while on the trail!
Poly Mailer | Each purchase comes with our 88% recycled poly mailer so you can send your LSO gear back when it's time to trade it in for a new size up!
Newsletter | Within each box is a newsletter for the kiddos! It will have fun drawings to color and cut out. We'll have easy-to-do activities in there to be able to do easily with your little one. We'll also showcase their drawings from our box, that you send in through our social media channels or email! The newsletter is updated every quarter with new activities, drawings and activities.
Our colors offered are custom made specific to Littlest Sidekick Outfitters. Due to them being custom just for our products, our prototypes seen in the photos throughout the page are not offered. Those colors are just for the prototype and testing process of our products.
We have two different levels of discounts. Knowing that kids will grow from one size to the next within 6-12 months, we wanted to create a system that works in tandem with them.
If you return your LSO gear within 6 months of purchase, you'll receive a 30% discount to be used on either a new item or used. If you return your LSO gear within 12 months of purchase, you'll receive a 15% discount!
[ Our used items are already marked down at a 30% discount ]
The table below shows what you could get our gear for depending on when you return your LSO pieces.
We partnered with The Renewal Workshop to help keep our garments clean, mended and up to our high standards when it comes to our products.
They not only make sure they're ready to go to the next little explorer but they also will responsibly up-cycle or recycle our garments when they have seen their last adventure. Therefore keeping our fabrics out of the landfills completely.
From desktop to iPad and mobile. Our interactive experience will be able to accessed through your different devices.
I take pride in the designers and manufacturers that work closely with me to bring these products to the market. I chose to stick to my own backyard when it comes to the manufacturing process for quick and easy accessibility if the situation is to arise. Knowing that I am contributing to the local businesses comes full circle for me. My representatives from each company have worked tirelessly with me to perfect the products LSO is launching. With their eye for design and the experience within the industry gives me a sense of relief knowing that our products will come out of their shops with the best stamp of approval on them.
Our fabrics are sourced from New Merino out of Australia. Working with a close representative from Global Merino that has introduced me to some amazing fabrics. After testing a couple dozen different Merino blends, I landed on the best quality fabric with the softest touch. I ran the fabrics through vigorous testing, trying out Play-Doh, mac n' cheese, dirt, butter and flour to see what stains came out and what didn't. After 1-2 washes I can say these stains didn't stand a chance.
With the production costs, materials, shipping, and printing - the Kickstarter platform was our #1 pick for our tool to help get our products into the market. They not only have a strong team to help us see this campaign to the end but they have a reputation for quality work as well.
The website comes in second as our most expensive cost. In order to have the ThreadTrail work seamlessly, we need professional web developers to help with the customization on the back-end of the website.
Fees are needed for every Kickstarter campaign. From the credit card processing fees to the % that Kickstarter takes for designers, like myself, to be able to host on their platform.
Rewards are the adult and child hats! They are designed and produced by a company located in Colorado. We worked closely with them to help design a hat that not only mimics our branding and design but also has the quality level we hold our apparel to.
I want to say a quick THANK YOU for taking a chance on us. Bringing a company to market honestly can't be done without a strong community that truly believes in the concept, the brand and the driver. I am so grateful for the chance to be able to work for every one of you - bringing these products and experience to your household.

Everything else that it takes to build a start up brand (research, questions, inspiration) | My amazing husband, my son who was the inspiration of the brand, my mom & Wayne, Ginny & Scott, Uncle Tim, Kristin, Katy with Wild Rye, Kelli from NOSO, Shannon @Factory45, Monica with Maman On The Trail and so many more.
It takes a village to raise a child and the same can be said for a business. I couldn't be more excited to get this brand and concept up and running to share all our stories we create while exploring outside!
Risks and challenges
Should any issues come up, you can be confident we will handle them with transparency and the utmost care for you, our backers.
Supply Chain Risk: We've partnered with a great group that has not only helped us along the way of creating such a great product but truly believe in what we're doing. Due to the nature of manufacturing, sometimes things happen, like fabric delays due to yarn being stuck in customs. We add time padding for these events, but sometimes it's not enough. If anything should arrive late we will get through it together.
We're extremely committed to and excited about delivering high-quality apparel, on time, that we know you'll enjoy as well as the little ones.
Thank you for your support! We couldn't be more excited to have you in our corner, supporting our dream. Together we can make this brand come to life.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
