Recording Dominick DiOrio's "Down Deep"
Diamonds From The Dust, a professional vocal ensemble based in Worcester, Massachusetts wants to record Dominick DiOrio's DOWN DEEP.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sat, November 24 2018 7:49 PM UTC +00:00.
On Sunday, October 21, 2018, Diamonds From The Dust presented in concert Dominick DiOrio's 2016 composition, "Down Deep," a choral work honoring the legacy of The Little Rock Nine. The ensemble was moved deeply in the preparation and performance of this important new work. We wish to gather the ensemble again for a dedicated recording event to produce a video and audio recording of the composition. We wish to make the recording available through streaming platforms such as YouTube and Soundcloud. We feel the themes presented in the work -- racism, exclusion, struggle, resilience, and perseverance -- remain important topics in our society today. And we mean to address those discussions by our art of choral music. While this projects looks mainly like a music project, it is mostly a social justice project communicated through recorded choral music.
Risks and challenges
Without the backing of supporters, we will need to use funds from our organizational budget to complete this project. Currently, that would mean we would need to modify our current plans for the remaining concerts of the season. We could do that and still offer all of our concerts, but we want to be able to do this recording project without altering our plans for presenting the best concerts possible this season.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
