About this project
This funding project will allow me to professionally promote my debut novel; The Lost Road to Hope, which was inspired by my mother's three year battle with cancer, and is the first book in a series of 8 independent but connected stories. It is a science fiction/thriller in which the heroes are cancer survivors facing a terrifying and unexplained world changing catastrophe. I feel it is a unique and engaging take on the apocalypse concept. I have written it in such a way that even those who do not regularly enjoy this type of genre should be drawn in, thrilled, and fully entertained by the plot and character development. The funding will support the launch of the novel by providing the following necessities; 50 printed copies of the paperback for distribution at signings and events, set up fees and costs involved in the printing of 80 T Shirts and 20 hats that correspond with the novel's promotion sporting the tagline, "Don't survive; live," professionally photographed head shots of the author for advertising materials, professionally written press release and coordinated media blitz, publicity kit that includes business cards, sell sheets, bookmarks, and mailers, and, finally, financing the creation of a well crafted and eye catching website. The first book signing will occur on July 13th at my place of business; Lake Wylie Bowl and Bounce advertised via social media (Facebook, Twitter, email blasts) and an article about me in the local paper. I am also creating a Facebook store to support the sales of my novel and corresponding merchandise. In addition, the project funding will allow me to set up multiple future events and effectively promote my work on the web. I have already sold 35 copies of the novel in various forms in a little less than two months. Not monumental by any means but achieved through the limited resources I have. With this funding, I should be able substantially to boost exposure of my book to a broad and diverse spectrum of people.
Backers will receive the following for the pledges:
A pledge of $25.00 will receive an autographed copy of the print book.
A pledge of $50.00 will receive an autographed copy of the paper back novel and choice of either a black or lavender T-Shirt with the tag line, "Don't survive; live!". Please note the size of your T Shirt in your communication.
A pledge of $75.00 will receive an autographed copy of the paper back novel, choice of either a black or lavender T-Shirt and ball cap with the tag line, "Don't survive:live!" Please note the size of the T Shirt in your communication. Hat size is one size fits all.
Risks and challenges
The novel is self published in E Book and print formats, so the product is already available. This project focuses on a more acute and effective promotion of the book. Although I feel my plan is well organized and acute there are risks in this endeavor. For example, the initial book signing could be a complete failure despite any hard work and marketing. This is the case in any signing scenario involving a complete newcomer. However, the funding will allow me to create a host of such events offestting any individual failures through a collective of opportunities to expose people to my novel. The Facebook store will offer signed copies of the novel that should also boost sales and exposure. I have over 100 Twitter Followers gathered in less than a week and 150+ likes on my two month old Facebook site dedicated solely to the novel. With this funding, I can truly bolster my viral presence. The website will further that presence and advertising future novels, as well as I, already own their domain names. I have spent 22 years in retail, restaurant, and multi-unit management with a proven track record of successfully marketing every business and brand I have been involved in, not only generating revenues but sizable profits. I intend on utilizing those skills to help promote and sell my novel and self now.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
