As most of you know, there are all kinds of websites out there where you can download and print out maps to be used with any RPG. But they are paper, so you can’t write on them (well… not more than once anyway), and they typically don’t hold up past one gaming session. Well, we’ve solved that issue for you with our Tiles of Adventuring: Tabletop Grid System, which gives you clear acrylic, modular game tiles.
Now you can put down your paper maps, put our tiles over them and:
- Write on them with any type of marker, and wipe it off with a dry cloth when you’re done.
- Keep them better protected so you can use them multiple times.
- Stop the edges from curling up and stop the seams from causing your minis to fall over.
- Easily move and rearrange the tiles so no matter which way the players want to go you can accommodate them.
In addition, our tiles are made out of acrylic so they are very long lasting, easy to transport, and since they are modular, you can easily lay them out to fit any surface and scale them any size playing surface.
We are offer two types of 10 inch by 10 inch tile designs:
Tiles with removable clips (for those of you who like to have smooth edges for your gaming surface).
And tiles with the clips attached (for those of you who like an easier set up and aren’t concerned with smooth edges).
They will be available with a 1 inch grid or no grid.
The grid lines are laser etched into the acrylic, so there is a top side and bottom side to the tiles which gives you the added bonus of being able to color the lines if you want (please see the FAQ for more info).
Our Carrying Case is made out of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), it will hold 24 tiles as well as the connector pieces, and requires assembly. But don't worry it's incredibly easy to assemble and only goes together one way so it's impossible to put together incorrectly.
** IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY **
We've done our best to keep the rewards simple, while still providing you with a good range of choices. Experience has taught us that we can't possibly come up with a reward level for every single option, so we have a "Custom" pledge level that will fill these gaps.
If you see a reward level that works for you, just click on it and pledge. If you a US backer your shipping is included. If you're an international backer, select the shipping option for your location (see the International Shipping Section for more details) and you're done.
However, if you want more than 12 Tiles Set you can add as many tiles as you like for $7.5 per tile. So let's say you wanted to add 3 extra tiles . This is where you would use the "Custom" pledge level. Just add the cost of the 12 tiles set ($100) to the cost 3 individual tiles (3 * $7.5 = $22.5) which = $122.5 and enter that amount into the "Custom Pledge" reward and you're good to go.
If you're an International Backer, and want more then 12 tiles then please add the following amount to your pledge for your region: (see the "'International Shipping" section for more information)
- Canada add $35
- United Kingdom add $55
- Australia add $65
We will be shipping these via INTERNATIONAL FLAT RATE, so once you have pledge for 12 Tiles there are NO Additional Shipping Charges, no matter how many tiles you want!
and then enter the total amount (ie $122.5 for 15 tiles + Shipping to Canada $35 = $157.5) in the "Custom Pledge" level.
But how will we know what you want?
Simple - after the Kickstarter is over, we'll send you a survey where you'll be able to the tell us what your selections are!
WE WILL SHIP ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!
To keep things as simple as possible, we have broken the international shipping into 3 groups:
- If you live in Canada, Mexico, or South America use the CANADA shipping option.
- If you live in the UK or Europe use the UNITED KINGDOM shipping option.
- If you live in Australia, New Zealand, China or Japan use the AUSTRALIA shipping option.
Just pick the appropriate option under the pledge level that you want and it will add the shipping to your pledge. If you are from another part of the world that we don't have listed here, send us a message and we'll figure it out for you and let you know how much to add.
- Adding the box option to your pledge will NOT affect the shipping cost.
- There is no difference in the shipping costs between the 9 Tile option and the 12 Tile option (they are in the same weight class).
- After 12 tiles there is NO additional Shipping charges.
We know international shipping is crazy and no one likes paying it (including us), unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the costs. However we can do this!
Anyone who backs this project for a tile set will will also be be able to add on anything from our website with a 15% discount and NO ADDITIONAL SHIPPING to ANYONE!
And website add-on's will be sent out with your reward, and selection and payment will he handled via the survey after the Kickstarter is over.

We are offering 2 template sets to complement our tiles, a Savage Worlds Set, and a Pathfinder set.
The Sets will be available in either clear acrylic for $10 per set, or colored acrylic for $20 per set with no additional shipping charges for anyone. Please note: the color choice is PER set, we can not do one template one color and another template in the same set in another color.
We have two types of colors available, regular color and fluorescent colors. To see the colors that we have and what they look like, check out our pocket dice tower on our website and click on the "Choose an Option" http://impudentmortal.com/product/pocket-dice-tower/
HOWEVER, The regular colors DO NOT show the line well when you have the engraving side down. Which means, to use them you will have to have them with the engraving side up so you won't be able to write on them. But the Fluorescent colors do show the lines fine with the engraving side down.
If you would like these sets, just add the appropriate amount to your current pledge level, and we'll get it all sorted (ie which set, what colors, etc.) when the survey comes out.
This set includes 1 (One) of everything you see here. $10 per clear set, $20 per colored set.
SAVAGE WORLDS SET

- 1 (One) 45 Degree Turn template
- 2 (Two) Small Blast Templates
- 2 (Two) Medium Blast Templates
- 2 (Two) Large Blast Templates
- 2 (Two) Teardrop Templates
$10 per clear set, $20 per colored set.
An 10 inch by 10 inch tile might seem like an odd size (and it is), but this size gives you the most amount of gaming area for the least amount money. Here's why:
When we buy the acrylic, it comes in 4 foot by 8 foot sheets that we cut down to 12 inch by 24 inch sheets so they fit in the laser. But because the saw blade is 1/8 of an inch thick, they are actually a little less than that and we can't fit a 12 inch by 12 inch tile on them.
We could have made the tiles 9" by 9" or 8" by 8" size tiles but we still would have only gotten 2 tiles per sheet and cost would have been the same cost as an 10" by 10" tile. If we went smaller, like a 6" by 6" tile, we would only be able to get 3 tiles per sheet, and again it would be about the same price because it still uses 1 full sheet of acrylic.
So... Can we make bigger sizes, unfortunately not. Can we make smaller sizes, yes. Will we make smaller sizes? Maybe. See the "Stretch Goals" section for more info about what we might do.
This is a new kind of project for us.Even though we play RPG's and use these tiles ourselves, experience has taught us that you often have great ideas for stretch goals that you'd use (and perhaps we wouldn't have thought of), so we are going to do something a bit unorthodox!
We are going to open up the stretch goals to YOU and NOT put a funding level on them!
So you're probably wondering how's that going to work. Simple:
If you have an idea, post it in the comment section and we'll take a look at. We'll comment on it and let you know if it's something feasible (ie. could it be made, and wouldn't end up costing more than people would be willing to pay for), and if it is, we'll put it out for a vote and see what people think. If we have enough interst we'll add it to the rewards, and you'll be able to pledge for it right then with no need to wait until we hit some magic funding number! Genius!
To start things off, here are some of the possibilities that we have come up with::
- Smaller Size Tiles. We can do this, but as we've discussed above you'll be paying the same amount of $ for a smaller area. But if this is something people want, we can do it.
- Different Size Grid Patterns. We know that not every system uses a 1 inch grid, so that's something we can change, we could even do no grid if you wanted.
- Different Color Acrylic. We have the ability to source transparent red, blue, yellow, and green acrylic. However, because of how dark they are, whatever you place underneath the tiles wouldn't show through as well, and it would increase the cost of the tiles around an additional $2 per tile.
Those are our thoughts, what are yours?
If you've never backed one of our projects before, you may not know that we produce the rewards based on the order the pledges were received. If you're the first pledge, your order gets done first. So the earlier you pledge, the sooner you get your reward. It’s that simple!
Once we have funded and received all the surveys, we'll be able to give a target completion date and rewards will begin to go out on that date. We'll also keep you updated on our progress through weekly updates so you'll have a good idea of when you can expect your rewards.
Ron McClung for play testing and giving us the idea for this.
Taylor Holloway for play testing.
Dawn Lomax for editing and creative assistance.
Gianna Lomax for photography and video work.
David Johnson for voice actor.

For those of you unfamiliar with us, you can check out our past Kickstarter's to see how things went by simply by typing "Impudent Mortal" into the Kickstarter search bar. We are happy to say that we have continually delivered our rewards on time.
And of course our web store: http://impudentmortal.com/ where you can look at the "About Us" section to see unsolicited reviews of our products and services.
Risks and challenges
The risks to this project are minimal. We have the equipment we need and multiple people trained in their use. All of the designs have already been developed and perfected and we have ironed out the kinks with our experience from our previous Kickstarters.
The only real challenge is if the project goes big, in which case we will order the necessary lasers to handle the increased demand, and we'll keep you in the loop on how production is progressing.
In order to keep you informed we put out weekly updates so if there are any problems you will be aware of them, and how we are addressing them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
