We are raising money to travel to The Netherlands to cover the 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. This tournament runs from June 26th to July 5th, 2015. At these tournaments, we provide score updates, links to live video streams, daily highlights, recaps, player interviews and location tours. If you haven't seen any of our coverage, check out our website, volleyballsource.net or our YouTube Channel. We have some YouTube playlists from last year's events if you'd like a better idea of the content we create.
Last year we were able to create one video per day with extra videos on the finals day. This year, with both of us on the ground, we are going to bring our fans even more coverage.
Here are two pictures from our posts last year.
Left: Cam didn't have someone to hold the camera by himself last year, so 3-time Olympic Gold Medallist Kerri Walsh Jennings offered to do it.
Right: Canadians Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton give a thumbs up after a win in Gstaad, Switzerland in the pouring rain. Cam fashioned a cover for his camera out of a ziplock bag in order to keep filming the match.
How The Money Will Be Used
The biggest expenses for this event are the two plane tickets to The Netherlands. Last year, we were able to cover The Hague on a shoestring budget because Cam was already over in Europe. He stayed in a hostel walking distance from the main venue and shopped at the local grocery store to keep expenses to a minimum.
In addition to plane tickets, accommodation and food, we will be purchasing some external hard drives to store and backup all of our content. We will also be purchasing a shotgun microphone for our video content.
Risks and challenges
One of the challenges we ran into last year in The Netherlands is that early stages of the event occur across multiple cities simultaneously. We only had one person at the event and could only be in one place at a time.
If we get our funding, we will be able to cover more matches in each of the host cities providing the best coverage of the tournament for fans.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
