About this project
You Did It!!! We have successfully reached our original goal!!!
But we don't have to stop here.
I will print limited edition soft cover copies of the book and hire marketing help if we can reach the stretch goal of $7,000 by September 17th!
Thank you for continuing to spread the word about this project with your networks! Remember, even $1 and $5 pledges make a difference when we join together.
Let's take this book to the next level!!!!
What happens when you're a 20-something year old in the middle of life saving treatment and the insurance company stops paying your doctor? Where can you go when your daily chemotherapy pill is $7,861.99 a month and your insurance co-pay is 20 percent?
I've written an informative and eye opening book about my experience as a young adult with CML (chronic myelogenous leukemia) and an AVM (arteriovenous malformation), clumsily navigating the American health care system in order to survive and become an advocate for others battling with health care.
Whether you agree or disagree with the current U.S. Health Care Law it's important to put a face on why this topic is in the headlines. This book's main purpose is to expose some of the pitfalls in the system and offer tips on how to navigate through them.
Who am I?
My name is Erin Havel and I'm someone who thought the American health care system was fine until more than one insurance company proved to me the system was broken. I'm a blogger and a speaker with a work history in both corporate America and the arts. (See more at www.erinhavel.com)
What is the book about?
I take the reader through the journey of battling insurance companies for care, learning tips on how to work within the system, and ultimately winding up an unexpected advocate for positive effective change.
The story is both timely and inspiring as a classic "little guy vs. big corporation" tale.
Currently the book is 150 pages.
Where will the money go?
I'm passionate about providing an e-book edition to readers before the November elections. There is a lack of understanding on why health care must continue to be improved and we need to start a more poignant dialogue.
In order to share the story and personalize the discussion, I need your help.
I've edited as well as I can and now I need to involve professionals who know how to maneuver through the publishing world.Your money will be going towards:
- professional editor/proofreader
- literary critique
- book proposal
- e-book formatting service
- ebook publishing/distribution
What is the future of the book?
Ultimately, I hope to publish a hard copy of the book to expand its readership; however, time is limited and an e-book has the best chance of being completed quickly.
Thank you so much for your time and support. Together we can create positive effective change!
How does Kickstarter work?
If you believe in this project and wish to help fund it, simply click on whichever level of reward amount you would like and follow the instructions. It will prompt you to use your Amazon account (or set one up if you do not yet have an Amazon account).
Then we wait.
All of the pledges made will go towards the needed goal amount.
Kickstarter is an all or nothing situation, however.
If we are able to spread the word to enough people and raise the set amount ($4000) then your pledge will be accepted and sent to the project. If we are unable to raise the set amount within the time allotted then this Kickstarter pitch will not fully fund and ZERO pledge money will come to this project.
Marketing is a huge part of any book, and it can be very expensive. When we surpass the original goal I will set a stretch goal to go towards spreading the word about the book. The more people who are able to read it, the more people will be helped by its information. That is the main purpose of this story--- to help others who are going through struggles with their insurance better understand and navigate the system.
