FLAMENKA NY is a collection of portraits taken by me of
flamenco female artists that perform, teach or live in New York City and form
part of the New york flamenco scene here. I would like to preserve their passion for self-expression through this collection of portraits.
This exhibit will hopefully serve as a chanel to exposing the Flamenco community to others.
FLAMENKA NY Exhibit: March 29th at 7pm
Splashlight Studios Soho, New York City
Why FLAMENKA NY: My passion for flamenco has inspired me to follow and try to capture the essence of this art form through my photography.
My goal is to tell the story of passion, strength and personal expression through this project. I decided to create FLAMENKA NY after being inspired by the flamenco community in Sevilla. I decided to invited female artist into a studio for a one on one photo session to capture the individual artist. These portraits will hopefully serve as a channel to bring these artist and their community into one space at the same time.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Until now this has been a self-funded labor of love to the art of flamenco. Your contribution will help cover the costs for printing and color correction for the portraits in the exhibit, as well as other exhibit expenses including framing, installation and projectors.
