A New Song

Here's one you haven't heard yet. With these funds I will be able to do a final mix and it'll be on the album with the rest of the songs about love and desire.

It's called Somebody's Angel. It runs a little close to home but it's not my story. I could never have written it if it were all about me. And in fact, my favorite guitarist/songwriter friend, Dave Alvin was the one that said "Cindy Lee there are things you've been through that only you can write about".

And so I wrote this song...which is Ruby's story. Yep the Ruby from "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town". In Kenny Rogers song Ruby is a bad woman that leaves her maimed war-husband at home at night, while dolling herself up. But maybe Ruby was going to a Bible study, maybe Alanon, maybe a bowling meet up, and maybe she was meeting a lover.

Truth is Ruby had a right to have a life. She was a caregiver most of the time and one for the person nearest and dearest, her spouse. That's a mighty hard row to hoe. Good for Ruby, finding a way to live her life and be there for her dying husband.

Just beautiful. Beautiful, sad, and brave. Altogether wonderful.

This is magnificent. Your voice sounds better than ever, and I love the Garage-Orchestra-style orchestration. Cannot wait for the album!
