A young girl seeks to escape a distorted world and uncover the truths surrounding it. What she finds may mean the end of all existence.
FLUR: Blades of the Universe is the first major story in the FLUR collection. FLUR is an acronym meaning “Forgotten Languages Understood Realities”; an idea that structures the very nature each story in the collection is built upon. Even though each story exists on their own, they are all brought to union based on the definition of this idea. But what could that definition be?
Blades of the Universe centers around a high school student named Lida Garuzo. She lives within a strange city named Lleamtegrof. At first it would appear that Lida’s life is very normal and to some successful. However you quickly become aware that there's something odd about the world Lida lives in. Through countless encounters with a chaotic phenomenon, and a group known as “The Resistance”, her sense of reality becomes progressively jaded and obscured along with the world around her. As her adventure unfolds, she not only becomes increasingly aware that her life isn’t as it seems, but that her ticket back home is hard to come by; after all, you’d be hard pressed to buy a ticket to nowhere.
This is issue number one in a series of many.

Why We Need Your Help
Since the project’s official start in 2009, we’ve begun presenting Blades of the Universe to the public through Internet radio productions (produced by creator Jamaal Ephriam). What we want now is to create a well-crafted professional visual experience that allows our readers to be further immersed into this unique world. This is of course our problem.
We’ve been funding all our expense out of pocket. Optimally, we’d like to produce a book every 3 months considering the length of each book. However high printing and production costs are prohibiting us from producing on even a reasonable timeframe. We’ve already explored many different funding avenues, but to no reasonable avail.
Our total production cost for each book is $5,000.00; a steep price for anyone tackling this endeavor alone. However, that is where you come in!
With your help, this piece can become more than just an interesting concept, it can become a reality; our dream of creating a vivid experience will become self-actualized through you!
For every donation made, you will receive prizes in our set tiers of qualitative original products should we meet our goal. Please include a little extra to cover shipping on your prize.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the money go?
All monies until the goal has been reached will go towards paying production costs to the illustrators, as well as help cover our printing costs of each book. Additional monies over our goal will go towards funding the next book, help secure funds to show at our local convention, and if more is available, help begin funding our additional productions.
What about international contributors?
Excellent question! Please include at least $5 to help cover the shipping cost of your rewards. International shipping is pricey >_<.
When will the animation be made?
It is not in our immediate foresight to start any animation at this point and time. However we are constantly seeking avenues that allow prestigious hand art or penned cel shade quality animation, without hindering creative control. We will keep you informed at our website when these avenues open up to us, though we’ve been looking into Studio MadHouse or Studio 4°C as they seem to be the most capable in interpreting the vision properly.
What should I do if I see you have already reached your goal?Continue to donate! With every dollar we make over our goal, it will help us fund the next book, help us with our planning for our showing at our next big local convention, Florida Super Con, and help us begin our larger comic projects that we have yet to secure funds for. But the buck doesn’t stop there!
KJC Comix is all about going big! We not only want to take you on a page by page adventure, but eventually we want to take you on an animatic adventure as well. But only you can take us there.
Are there any more ways I can help?
