The Adventure Game Store & Dragon's Lair has been serving gamers in South Florida and visitors from all over the world for three decades now, since 1988. In that time we have welcomed generations of enthusiasts through our doors, hosted and attended hundreds of conventions, and given talks, workshops and symposia on gaming, game design, storytelling, miniatures painting, history, mythology and folklore, for schools, nonprofits, and other clubs and associations.
When the time came to consider expansion, our first thought was to create a warm, comfortable space in the style of the shop, with a café and expanded game library. We quickly added the idea of a studio space, outfitted for streaming, that would double as a private game room. Then we realized we were envisioning something special, and the concept of The Adventure Game Society was born.
In the mold of a society club, the Adventure Game Society will be more than a games café space. It will be a fellowship devoted to tabletop games and the people who play and create them. We will be expanding our calendar of events to include parties for society members, excursions to movies and other geek-friendly venues, and even hosting our own mini-convention. We will be creating our own media via our studio, with a streaming channel which will feature original podcasts, news, reviews, interviews, product spotlights and actual play. We will have a design arm that will teach and foster aspiring designers, playtest games, and even publish.
All of this in addition to being a first class gameplay space and café with coffee, tea and refreshments, and hopefully, before long, beer and wine, plus a huge games library.
Work has already begun on the space. We need your help, as gamers near and far, as our publishing company friends, to help us make the Adventure Game Society into the fellowship we're envisioning - a league of extraordinary gamers - a nexus of fun, creativity, and entertainment.

Risks and challenges
While we make our way through the planning stages, there are surveys, engineering, and construction plans involved, all of which requiring approval and inspection before actual work, so there may be some delays. As with any starting business, risks and challenges are a part of the adventure. Delays are always a risk from a variety of sources such as suppliers, inspectors and construction. Should the worst happen and the opening date is pushed back, we will notify all of our backers. Regardless, we will be posting regular updates regarding where we are in the construction/opening process.
Collectively, we have food industry experience and have run a small business, but admittedly nothing quite to this scale. We have tried our best to thoroughly plan everything we could and plug any gaps in knowledge and experience by consulting others with more experience than us in projects of this type. However, unanticipated challenges and roadblocks may arise that we may not be able to overcome. If that were to occur, we will do our best to come up with solutions that are best for all involved. And we will of course always keep our backers informed!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
