What is Faithless ?
It is a dark and gritty story that takes place in a world called Adrahstea. It centers around Alish Karr, a one of a kind angelic human hybrid. Who does not know how she was created, when or even why. Fragments of confusing childhood memories haunt her. She has spent her life without her left forearm and leg. She must use prosthetics, which are enhanced with low tech and steam power. Her day job is that of an ‘Outside Consultant’ or off the books bounty hunter/detective for the multicultural, and morally corrupt, the nation state of Jericho.
The world of Faithless is rich with a variety of fantasy and mythological species and creatures, drawing from all hosts of world mythologies. The two species that take center stage at the story's beginning are the ruling Angels and Demons of the land. These two species are on the brink of an apocalyptic war against one another that threatens to consume the entire world. The small population of technologically advanced humans have cut themselves off from general society and live in reclusion. Although physically cut off, the humans still pull the strings from the shadows in various political affairs, especially those dealing with Jericho. The various other species of the world try to keep themselves away from the tensions of the dominate angel and demon classes.
What is the funding for?
With the help of the Kickstarter community and that of my supportive family and friends, I hope to fund the production and printing of the 30 page Faithless issue #1. My ultimate goal is to produce something fresh and exciting in a world of repetitive and rehashed entertainment. This will be the beginning of the Faithless comic book saga. The first issue will be penciled and lettered out by me. Then I will be inking and then coloring it. The funding from this campaign will be used for a few things. First to compensate the amazing comic artist Eric Basaldua and colorist Kate Finnegan, who have signed on to do the main cover of the book, after the project is funded. Both of which are very well known artists in the comic industry. Secondly, the bulk of funding will serve for the printing costs and the rewards of the campaign. If I surpass my funding goal the rest will aid in the convention tour I will doing in 2013 for Faithless. If I surpass the goal further than $ 4,000 I will use the funds to begin work on the second issue, which is already written.
So why is it called Faithless and how does it pertain to the story?
Well the reason it's called Faithless is simple really. Alish Karr was raised in an environment where people let themselves be blinded by their own religious devotions and platitudes. This lead to her as a child being forced to see the countless horrors people were willing to commit in the name of their religions. In her teen years a certain tragedy, which will be told in future issues, occurs in Jericho. After surviving it, she loses all her faith in all the world's religions and most of what she had in society as a whole, and becomes cynical. Now I know what you must be thinking, "Geez that sounds depressing !" Bare with me. As the story unfolds the reader will see her break down the walls she built around herself and learn that there are some people in the world you can believe in, but most importantly that you have to believe in yourself and keep fighting on no matter what the world says or does to you. Also, rest assured there will be plenty of action, conspiracy, sex, drugs, smoking, murder, intrigue, and did I mention explosions ! Haha, I got your attention now.
It's just the beginning...
But seriously, I have been working on the development of Faithless for the past five years. During that time I sold a six page preview book, with sketches and bios, at comic conventions and it did very well and helped to build a start up fan base. I have even had women dress up as Alish Karr walking around the conventions. Now though is the time for Faithless to gain worldwide recognition. And with this campaign and your help I know it will ! Also Faithless is just the center hub or starting point for a whole universe of other comic book titles I have, all of which can be connected to the world of Alish Karr in some way or form. And as I said in the video, the comic book is just the beginning. Faithless is a story that can and will be integrated into video games and film. Sounds exciting right? So be a part of it. Feel as excited about this as I do !
Incentive to donate
Still not convinced it ? Check the reward panel to the right, plus the reward images at the bottom of the page, and see if that does not your mind. I am offering signed and exclusive prints, posters, T- shirts, a custom made 1/6 scale Alish Karr and even a Lego style mini figure of Alish. Plus even making available the original penciled pages. The greatest incentive though is just to be one of the few people who were generous enough to take part in this project. Think of how awesome you will feel a few years down the line when you see the first Faithless movie being released and you can say "Yea, I helped make that happen !"
What if the funding goal isn't met?
I fully understand the content is not suited for everyone, and may offend some, I only hope that you will see the future in supporting a truly intense and dramatic piece of work as the ultimate reward for your support. For those of you who are in the market for a story that is dark, gritty, and loaded with conspiracy and intrigue, I commit myself to delivering my best work ever to you, and promise a thrilling ride in the process. If my goals are not met, then I will have to dig deeper past the holes in my pockets to pay for the book. Full disclosure is, that I don't yet have a huge Facebook audience, or an unimaginably large following on Twitter. As it says in my bio I‘m an illustrator from Chicago trying to climb higher and higher each day in the great field, that is the comic book industry. Despite the title of the my comic, I truly believe in the future of this project. Words cannot express the appreciation I’ll have for anyone who pledges to help me make my vision a reality. Thank you for taking the time to view my project.

Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges I may face on this project are pretty limited. The pencils and lettering are complete. If my selected cover artist drops out, I have cover options I have already done myself just in case. I would still keep any supporters aware if their were to be any changes. Once the pencils are all inked, by me, I'll be coloring the comic myself and updating every supporter of the progress. If for some reason I had delays with printing or shipping, I would once again make sure that every supporter would be updated, with my sincerest apologies. I'd say I am qualified to handle any difficulties that could arise because I tend to do things well in advance and plan ahead to a ridiculous level.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
