PHOTOGRAPHERS AGAINST WILDLIFE CRIME™
This international group of award-winning photographers are using their powerful and iconic images to help bring an end to the illegal wildlife trade with the publication of a truly unique book, launching in May 2018, thanks to the funds raised so far on Kickstarter.
"THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT! WE HIT OUR GOAL BUT WE ARE STILL RAISNG FUNDS TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN DISTRIBUTE THIS IMPORTANT BOOK IN CHINA. EVERY PENNY COUNTS TO HELP THE PRODUCTION OF THE SPECIAL EDITION IN MANDARIN . WE WILL GET THIS BOOK INTO THE HANDS OF WILDLIFE CONSUMERS." Britta Jaschinski, photographer and co-founder
This book will make a valuable contribution towards a constructive dialogue to end the demand for wildlife products in China.
The illegal wildlife trade is the world's fourth biggest criminal activity after drug smuggling, the illegal firearms trade and human trafficking. Never before has such a group of well-known, award-winning photographers and photojournalists come together to say a loud and clear NO. You can help us by supporting our fund raising campaign to produce this book for China.

A MESSAGE FROM MICHAEL 'NICK' NICHOLS, PHOTOGRAPHER & FORMER EDITOR AT LARGE, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE
We have three main goals which will only be possible with your help through this Kickstarter campaign:
Goal Number 1 To publish a truly unique photo book for release in May 2018, and distribution across Europe and the United States. This English language edition will draw attention to the realities of this deadly trade and celebrate the heroes on the ground who are striving to protect our endangered wildlife and their habitats.
Goal Number 2 To release an edition in Mandarin for distribution in China, which could make a valuable contribution towards a constructive dialogue to educate the consumer about the consequences of the demand for illegal wildlife products.
Goal Number 3 To raise funds over and above the book publication costs for charities whose mission it is to end the illegal wildlife trade in our lifetimes.
The Kickstarter target will cover the print production and delivery costs of the book, in order to maximise the amount of sales revenue that can be donated to charities dedicated to fighting and exposing the illegal trade in wildlife all over the world. A portion of sales revenue will also be set aside to help cover the costs of the Chinese edition.

A MESSAGE FROM BRITTA JASCHINSKI, WILDLIFE PHOTOJOURNALIST & CO-FOUNDER OF PHOTOGRAPHERS AGAINST WILDLIFE CRIME™
“We are losing species at an alarming rate. Millions of animals and plants are caught and harvested from the wild and sold as food, pets, tourist curios, trophies and traditional Chinese medicine. Our wildlife is wiped out in the name of status, greed and superstition. Please help us to reach out to the consumers of wildlife products. We need to influence their behaviour to end this ruthless and destructive trade. We know that photography can be a powerful tool. By joining forces we now have a unique collection of the most beautiful, sometimes hart-hitting, but always inspiring images by dedicated photographers. Our images are the proof that photography matters. Without photography the world’s conscience will wither. Please support us in ending these crimes.”
Risks and challenges
Keith Wilson, co-founder of Photographers Against Wildlife Crime, has many years of experience and success in creating and editing wildlife photo books to domestic and international markets.
"Since 2013, I have edited five books, including several that have been funded by crowd funding, working closely with the photographers from concept to press.
"I assemble a dedicated production and design team, whose expertise lies in producing the best quality photo books, with a thorough knowledge of the entire image reproduction and printing process. It is the same team that will work on this new book and we will use the renowned printer EBS, based near Verona, Italy, with whom we have a well established working relationship.
"A printing date in March has already been booked for this project, with delivery by April, for a UK launch in May to coincide with Photo London. There will also be an exhibition of images from the book to be shown at the official launch."
