"LET'S REALLY DO THIS."
In 2010, a group of writers met in a garage with a case of beer and the apt heralding of the motto above. Since then, The Garage League has expanded to include published authors, illustrators, artists, playwrights, filmmakers, and musicians.
Our meetings hold high the process of critique to improve as writers and performers. We meet for support; we meet for perspective; we meet for finesse. We believe that where we meet and write, individual expression and collective reflection creates community.
INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION + COLLECTIVE REFLECTION = COMMUNITY
Through our work it is our hope to develop impacting ideas, both personal and universal. We hope to push ourselves to do more. We believe that, united as a group, we can better develop our work and grow as individuals.
WE ARE DEVELOPING OUR VOICES.
This is our first pooled work as a group, and we feel damned proud to have it pulled from the ether and etched onto the palpable page. Throughout the development of our first compilation, we were simply, yet most eagerly, concerned about creating and completing work. We wrote it to involve ourselves. We wrote it to inspire. We wrote it to connect. We wrote it to contribute to the creative realm, to do something for others and to speak what is in our hearts. More so, we wrote it for our sanity. Especially, we wrote it for fun.
We try our hardest to focus on what we are doing today and prepare for whatever opportunities the future holds.
