Incentive Updates, Film Updates

Hello Kind Strangers!

I just wanted to write you all a quick note about progress with American Bear and alert you about your incentives!

Film Updates:

Things have been going amazingly well!

Our head editor Danny Ledonne has been doing fantastic work and we finally have all the pieces of the film together, whittling down to our first two-hour rough cut. Our assistant editors Jake and Carlos are tackling the film's thematic branches, and we've begun working on the animated sequences to track our progress through the Bears! As all the visual pieces are moving along, we're also working with a music supervisor to build the soundtrack, and looking forward to working with our sound designer in a couple months as the final step of the process. We should have a finished film in August, but look out for special test screenings this summer!

We are collaborating with Guerrilla Goodness to spread kindness through Syracuse, Richmond, NYC, and Dallas. Teams will show their bravery and generosity by completing missions in our Kindness Kits and capture the beautiful moments of connection with disposable cameras. The photos will be featured online and in an upcoming installation in Syracuse; Kindness Captured launches on June 30! If you're in any of those cities, email us to get involved! And if you'd like to bring Kindness Captured to your city someday, we'd love to help!

In August we will be doing another event in Denver -- its still slightly secret but very deliciously involves sweet treats!

We just sent out a newsletter with more updates, including the newest episode of our mini documentary series and images of our new stickers! --  you can view it here

Incentives:

After much ado, the stickers have finally arrived! They are beautiful. Glorious even. If your incentive was a thank you letter or a sticker, it should be arriving in the mail by the end of the month! Sorry for the delay on printing -- but I promise it was well worth the wait.

Now you can reward all the kind strangers you encounter with a badge of kindness American Bear style. Or keep the little circles for yourself as a reward for your generosity. They make great bumper stickers, laptop decorations, kindle case decals -- you name it!

For those of you who are waiting on the completion of the film (thats anyone who is getting a DVD) your incentives will be mailed out in September/October. The film will be completed by the end of August and at that point and we will send you a super secret, signed festival DVD screening copy. You will be among the first ever to see our film.

Thank you for your patience, your kindness and your generosity! We are so excited to make the world a kinder place with you!

Mail!

Howdy amazing people!

It feels likes it been so long since we've spoken!

I wanted to update you on the status of packages! Because I oh so badly want to send you mail. We are just waiting on a contract for some graphic design/illustration before we can print the stickers. It should all happen next week which means mail soon!

Greg and I are both going on separate adventures next week -- he will be in DC working with a group of 41 students on an Alternative Spring Break trip to help the homeless and the hungry. I will be in Alamosa, visiting family and shooting a music video. I think we will both come home feeling incredibly fulfilled.

BUT! BIG NEWS! American Bear: An Adventure in the Kindness of Strangers as been selected as a potential fundee for the American Documentary Pitch Competition in Palm Springs, California! We are incredibly excited to head out there in about three weeks and give it our best shot! We can't wait to tell people all about our film. (Its also our three year anniversary!)

And lastly, we wanted to share with you our next episode of BEAR Bones -- in which Amy Pinkham discusses facial hair. Basically, people who have it can't be trusted. Except Santa Claus. and Greg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8-Om_5RWAY

I hope you are all doing so well. Its snowing in Syracuse right now -- big large flakes of real snow. And I love it!!

The End (But Not Quite)

Hello Amazing American Bear Family!

Thank you so much for your kindness and support in the last two months. We could not be making this film without you and are so incredibly grateful for every facebook link, comment, dollar, and mention.

We are officially done with our kickstarter campaign! Its incredibly exciting!

With your help we are now able to pay our editor, find a sound designer, possibly get some animation done for the film and more than that we might even be able to license some very cool music.

Thanks for helping this film survive; we are so excited for these next few months!

But just because we are done with our kickstarter campaign doesn't mean we want to stop updating you! The next 10 months are going to be amazing and huge for us. So many changes, developments and events! So if you would like to stay in the loop, please email us at beardocumentary@gmail.com to continue receiving updates.

We do plan on sending updates here occasionally (because this page is forever ours!) but they don't look nearly as pretty...

Thank you oh so so so much for your support, enthusiasm and investment in our film. You are the best community ever.

And hey! Keep checking back at our facebook, twitter and home pages for our new video series, awesome photos, guest blogs and other fun content. We know you want to see the film most of all, but while you wait you will have no shortage of amazing information!

Some super happy face photos of Greg and I -- thanks for making this happen!

We MADE IT!

Yesterday was an incredible day for American Bear.

We had a huge donation from a very generous person (Amanda! Ah!) that put us over the top. Then, that donation was followed by another generous donation --  and now we have passed our goal!

But it's the cumulative generosity that makes this so exciting! We couldn't have done it without each and every one of you -- every single dollar counts and this has been an incredible team effort from a great group of amazing people.  You are our American Bear Community and we are so glad you exist!

Thank you for supporting us, the film and the themes!

THANK YOU!

We will continue to send updates and I promise we will write you the longest update letter with some fascinating statistics on January 21st, the day we are officially done fundraising. Because there is nothing wrong with passing our goal and you never know what might happen!

-Sarah and Greg!

P.S. Our first ever guest blog just went live in the "your voice" section of American Bear's website -- check it out if you're curious.
