The Beautiful Game: TCG – A football board game (Canceled)
The Beautiful Game: TCG is a fast paced football board game, mixed with trading card elements for those wanting deeper tactics.
The Beautiful Game: TCG
The Beautiful Game: TCG is a football game that captures the essence of the sport and distills it into a hybrid between two types of game genres: a fast paced board game and a trading card game. The core concept of the game is for it to be as simplified as possible so the game can be played at speed, but still offer players the ability to make plenty of tactical decisions.
We’ve designed the game so that it can be experienced in it’s entirety straight out of the box. We like the idea of being able to continually develop and add to the game, hence the presence of the TCG element to add longevity, variety, depth and fun to the playing experience.
We consider the game to be in constant development and we’d love as many people to play the game as possible. If you’d like to try the game before (or indeed after) it is available to buy on Kickstarter on the 19th of February, all the elements you need to play are available to download and print at home via our website.
All feedback, questions and comments are greatly received!

And here's how to play the game:
We've been concentrating on finalising the core game and as such, we don't have many planned stretch goals, but we're almost certain to include some extra player standees in different kits for Kickstarter backers only. And we've some ideas for some extra Kickstarter exclusive cards. We're also beginning to explore the possibility of miniatures in case we go way over target, but this would be something that we would look to ship separately to avoid delaying delivery of the main boxed game.
If there's anything else you'd like to see as stretch goals, let us know!
Please note that at present the game is English language only.
Risks and challenges
As a two man team, we obviously don't have the capability to make our own game elements, so there will be manufacturing and shipping processes. We've tried to hugely reduce risk on this front by choosing Panda Games to manufacture and deliver the game to us in the UK for redistribution.
Our target of £45,000 is our break even point on our first order. This may seem high but we think it is better to try cover this cost entirely with pledges rather than try to cover a portion of the cost and try fund the rest personally or through other avenues. To put it plainly, if we meet our target, we have all the funds we need to deliver the game to our backers.
We aim to have the game in backers' hands in roughly 8 months from the time our project ends - (including shipping duration). This may sound like a long time, but if we succeed in reaching our target we have allowed (within the 8 months) timeframe to finish refining certain elements of the game - namely rebalance event cards and create new art for them after continued play-testing. We are hopeful we may even be able to expedite this process slightly.
The contents of the box are subject to change. We have worked hard to produce an accurate prototype ourselves, but we think the final product will be enhanced during the manufacturing process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
