About this project
Join us on our journey to create a free, safe virtual world that will be an ever expanding game.
Kazopark is a free browser-based multiplayer virtual world, that users build and expand themselves. It's user defined, limitless, packed with imaginative locations and ready for exploring.
This world is alive and sociable, it reacts to its players as you undertake new adventures by yourself or in group. Everything you do, every location you create - it all expands the world for other players to explore and experience. Your choices make the real difference and it's your creations that players will experience the most.
Our focus for Kazopark is creating a safe, creative world for teenagers to engage, socialize and have fun. Users will be able to play and share live music, YouTube videos, conversations and room creations.
Kazopark will be available and moderated in 6 languages at release:
Kazopark is being developed in Flash and is browser based - There are absolutely no downloads.
What is Kazopark?
It is a unique, safe, moderated, multiplayer role-playing experience. A feature-rich, ever-expanding isometric virtual world, where players come together to create, quest, collect achievements and design new rooms.
From the moment you enter the world, you create your own character, build your own locations and explore the world either by yourself, or as part of a group. Any room can be linked with any other user's room.
You are provided dozens of different designs for your avatar, alongside being able to pick from many colours. The result is that no two avatars will look the same, giving you a huge amount of options for how you want to personalize your look!
Users will be provided hundreds of free items to create thousands of different room designs. Room size will be dictated by the user, as well as the maximum amount of users that can enter the room.
Is Kazopark Free to Play?
Yes. Kazopark will be launching as freemium content, focusing heavily on the free, rather than the premium. Free to Play games on Kickstarter are highly unusual and are rarely posted, but when they are posted - backer rewards are often lack-luster. We hope that the incentives we are providing will be worthy of you backing our project.
Free to Play games have come a long way in recent years (League of Legends being one of the world's biggest games whilst being completely free) and we hope this has removed a lot of the stigma surrounding the business model. As you can see within our video, quality is not compromised.
We always wanted to create a world with a life of its own, but it's almost impossible to get funding for something like this with traditional methods, as until you have the project near completion, investors can not visualize how the project will turn out. But this is what's amazing about you today on Kickstarter - this is the place where people like you are looking for that something new and bold. We thank you for your pledge.
Kickstarter brings us closer to our fans and we get to share this amazing experience of building a world together. We want the dialogue and we want your vision and inspiration. It's not just a game, it's a whole new world and we want to create it with you.
We've designed the game for a flexible budget. There are some parts that we absolutely must have in order to launch and then there are some stretch goals that will add to the experience.
We're also pleased to announce that this project is participating in Brian Fargo’s Kicking It Forward initiative, promising to pledge 5% of its post-release profit to other Kickstarter projects. If you're supporting us - we will support you.
Why should you back Kazopark?
Kids will always want to socialize, make new friends and get to know other people as they grow up. We believe that our advanced engine will provide the perfect house for teens to explore their curiosity, in a completely safe environment. We will be allowing parents to get involved, providing them with special powers in order to allow them to see what their child has been up to, as well as to help keep the game safe.
This project has been in development for the past year with 6 programmers and 2 artists. It took us a lot of time and effort to get where we are and we are very excited to go live. However, to go live is so much more than just building the engine.
Kazopark will be running as freemium content - you get almost everything in the game for free and we will ensure that the majority of users will not need to pay a penny to enjoy everything Kazopark has to offer.
What this does mean is that we do need this Kickstarter project to be fully backed to cover our remaining development costs. Although we've come a long way on our own, there's still so much more we can add to the game. This is where additional financing and our stretch goals come in.
As a reward for backing us, we have put together some great packages for you:
Who are we?
We are a small game development team based in Leeds, England, United Kingdom. Over the years, we have worked with many international Blue-chip clients developing marketing games to co-inside with other promotions. We've created huge-budget games, as well as low-budget games for individuals and it has shown us exactly what does, or does not work in the market.
We will be holding AMA (Ask Me Anything) event's throughout this Kickstarter campaign, where you will get to meet and chat with our lead developers to ask any of the questions that you have. We're also inviting you to participate in our Kickstarter campaign discussion on crowdfundingforum.com
One of the best way you can help this project is to spread the word on Facebook (www.facebook.com/kazopark). If you know anyone who might be interested - please, share our story with them. The more people know about Kazopark - the more likely we'll be able to reach our goals. Every like and tweet counts!
Want to chat to us about Kazopark?
We do too! Check out our media page here, where you can get in contact with us on our office telephone number.
Risks and challenges
Making video games involves a lot of different parts being brought together by many different people. Artists need to work alongside programmers, who need to work alongside concept artists and interface designers. We have mitigated a lot of the risk carried by this product by having already built a fully tested, working and great alpha version of the game. Whilst it still has some tweaks needed, the majority of the functionality is all in there.
Being free to play will allow us to have mass-market appeal, however it does mean that we will have much less capital upfront to cover server costs. To compensate for this, we have a robust system planned (with a fully tested and working reserve system) to avoid the system inadvertently going offline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
