Brakeboard progress. May 2014.
No doubt you are keen for some Brakeboard news.
We are pleased to report that the decks have been completed and they are of the best quality USA manufacturers can provide.
On a trip to California last year I visited and established a relationship with the state's leading deck makers. They make some of the top US brands and only use the best materials. They have more than 50 years’ experience in deck production.
The Kickstarter decks and our branded Brakeboard decks are waiting at our US distribution centre ready for shipping.
However, manufacturing the new trucks has taken much longer than expected. The next generation trucks do not appear to show much variation in appearance, but improvements have been made to almost every one of the 40 plus components.
Most of these have been re-tooled, tested and put into full production. The biggest change is to the rear hanger. We have reduced its weight and altered the production process to improve accuracy in final finishing and machining. Tooling is a slow process.
This week we encountered a few problems with the first castings with air pocket formation. This is easily fixed but means a few more weeks delay. We now can expect delivery in June.
We hope to ship directly from the source. This will reduce shipping time, but those of you who pledged for the complete setups will need to attach the trucks to the deck. As a bonus you will receive the full box set with road case and tools. We provide all the tools necessary for assembly.
The Brakeboard website will have an assembly demonstration video. Assembling is not a difficult process and you can gain a better understanding of how the brakes function.
Quality is our primary focus and to achieve this has taken rather longer than we had anticipated. But we feel the finished product will be worth the wait. We greatly appreciate your support and patience.
We hope to see you all riding your Brakeboards this summer.
