Actors and food go together like Daisy & Violet. Like Audra & Tony Awards. Like Rama Lama Lama & Kadingity Ding Dee Dong!
Broadway Nosh will bring Broadway stars and their favorite dishes together in a fabulous new web series hosted by Kirsten Wyatt. In each 4 minute episode, Kirsten and her guest will chat about life and love and Broadway all while cooking that guests' favorite recipe! It's gonna be joyful, hilarious and delicious.
Kirsten is a veteran Broadway actress (Annie, Grease, Urinetown, lots of elves...) and an enthusiastic home cook. Through the years, Kirsten has developed a passion for feeding people both literally and theatrically and Broadway Nosh is the marriage of those two passions. She loves to cook for her family and when Kirsten does a show her cast and crew become instant family! It's one of her favorite parts about being an actress.
When Kirsten had this idea she had a bevvy of friends who helped her out of the goodness of their hearts because they believed in the project. Her pal, Evan Kleinman, shot and edited the Kickstarter video. And all the promo episodes used in the Kickstarter video were shot by Ray Lee and the folks at Unreel Films. Imagine what could be done if we had an actual budget!
Here's the nitty gritty: 85% of our budget will go to the production costs to create the first season - equipment, crew, ingredients for each episode, writing, directing, feeding our crew and guests, and editing the project. 5% of it will go to creating a fabulous website & composing a snazzy theme song. And on top of all that we need to account for the fact that Kickstarter and Amazon Payments will take 8-10% of everything we raise.
We have done our level best to account for every aspect of this project. It seems daunting right now, but we know we can do it with your support!
Risks and challenges
Our plan is to begin filming episodes in January, and the only obstacle we can foresee right now is scheduling. Broadway's biggest and brightest stars also happen to be very busy people and Kirsten is also a pretty steady working actress herself. But fear not, Noshers! Kirsten has made every effort to account for this in the budget. Plus, there are so many amazing folks on Broadway that we will never be at a loss for interesting, talented and hilarious actors who like food. The great news is the more the scheduling gods are with us the more episodes of Broadway Nosh we can bring you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
