WE MADE IT!
We've hit our minimum to be funded! Thanks to everyone who helped us. As you probably realize, however, five thousand was a very modest goal that we set because we weren't sure that the project would be a success at all. The point is that the more funding we receive, the better the festival will be- we'll be able to get more comics and pay for better venues! If you haven't donated yet, please don't let the fact that we hit or minimum stop you. To everyone who already donated: thank you so much for your support!
The San Francisco Comedy and Burrito Festival (SFCBF) will be a three day long festival celebrating two of the greatest things in the world: stand-up comedy and burritos.
The festival will be feature comedians from all over the country, as well as top talent from our own thriving local scene. Several top headliners have already expressed enthusiastic interest in performing at the festival. There will be no sketch or improv- just pure good old-fashioned stand-up (and maybe a podcast or two for good measure).
The festival will take place in the centrally located Mission District of San Francisco, a cultural hotbed that features a variety of performance venues and gallery spaces. Each of the venues will be within walking distance of each other, facilitating easy migration from one show to another and thereby maximizing the number of shows festival goers will be able to see. Because of this, the best way to experience our festival will be by purchasing a very affordable festival pass, although tickets for individual shows will also be available to purchase.
The Mission District is also known to be the birthplace of the San Francisco Burrito (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_francisco_burrito) and is said to have the highest concentration of taquerias in the world. New York may have better pizza, Chicago better hot dogs- but we as San Franciscans know that we have the best burritos in the world. The San Francisco burrito is a unique culinary creation known as much as its girth (think fat baby’s arm wrapped in foil) as for its deliciousness. With each ticket purchase, the customer will receive a coupon that can be used for purchases at one of the nearby participating taquerias (we may also have taco trucks). Pass holders will receive an as yet to be determined number of coupons.
Although we believe in the festival so much we will be partially funding it out of our own pockets, we still need your help. The funds we are raising here will help pay for venues, promotional materials, performer fees, and other fun things.
We haven't reached this point yet- so far we haven't done any of the bookings.
