In the world of Inner Chains, you don’t get to set the rules. You are just a small part of a hostile, unwelcoming universe. If you want to survive, the only thing you can do is to try to discover its secrets.
A planet. Distant future. A rock floating in space, no longer resembling what it had once been. Without human interference, nature has begun to adapt to the new conditions, reclaiming what was once taken by humans. In its everlasting pursuit of perfection, it has begun to assimilate with the abandoned technology, giving life to biomechanical beings.
Left to its own devices, man-made technology has also changed as it tried to adapt to the new environment. Evolution cannot be stopped, so a strong symbiosis soon developed between technology and nature, making it difficult to determine what is alive and what is mechanical in the world of Inner Chains.
After several million years of biomechanical evolution, mankind has once again become an important part of the ecosystem. However, its stage of development could be compared to the Middle Ages of our civilization. As a result, the human race, oblivious to its own history, cannot fully comprehend or control the powerful technology at its disposal. The people living in the world of Inner Chains accept this situation as natural and focus on using the planet’s resources of to their advantage. There is also something that has not changed through the millennia: social mechanisms governing human life, such as faith, dominance, oppression or manipulation. They have led to the emergence of multiple castes, and later to the supremacy of one particular group which had discovered these mechanisms first, learned them well and used them to rise to power. The other castes had to submit, looking to the leaders with hope for a brighter future.
As one of the inhabitants of this world, your head filled with the teachings of the Ruling Caste, you have only one goal: to get to a mythical place called the Last Hope and leave this sick, degenerated, dying planet once and for all. You embark on your journey full of fanatical zeal, but soon it becomes clear that nothing is what it seems in this strange world. To discover your role in it, you’ll have to fight for survival, face hostile fauna and flora, overcome your own weaknesses, stay observant to your surroundings and explore the secrets of the game’s world. Your survival depends entirely on your watchfulness, logical judgment, quick reflexes, accuracy and the ability to use your surroundings to your advantage.
The world which you visit in Inner Chains does not resemble anything you know. You are a small part of it, trying to unravel the mystery of this strange place.
By tossing you into this dark, mysterious world, we want you to explore its history, discover its secrets one by one, and learn to use your knowledge against your opponents. Keep an eye on the hostile environment and take clues from the surrounding flora. Any information that you manage to gather and use will increase your chances of survival. Forgotten ruins and caves in the mountains, a dangerous forest where both flora and fauna lie in wait to attack you, numerous religious sites and majestic temples adapted by the Ruling Caste whose existence and goals hide many dark secrets – in the vast, surreal world of Inner Chains you’ll visit all these places and learn their unique histories, arming yourself with knowledge which will help you in your ultimate battle with the enemy.

Every character in Inner Chains will be given their own unique personality related to their role in the game. We have designed the characters with great attention to detail, from concept sketches to final models.
We have created 5 character classes with their own unique looks, behavior patterns, battle tactics and animations. Every class will require you to use a different approach, making the game all the more challenging. Several classes are already fully developed, while the rest are at a concept stage. As of now, they are still to be officially named. The presence of hostile wildlife, in the form of both animals and plants, makes for another interesting addition.
The most common and basic type of enemy that you will encounter. Not much of a challenge, but can be bothersome. Never ignore them.
A medium difficulty, ranged opponent. They can prove really deadly – approach at your own risk!
One of the most dangerous opponents that you are going to face. Towering in both size and strength. You will not defeat him using Rambo-like tactics – you need to engage him with cunning and strategy. Remember that everyone has a weak spot.
This enemy is not only strong but also extremely intelligent and cunning. On top of that, it is essential to the storyline. When you face it, all other opponents will pale in comparison.
A freak of nature. The result of ill-considered experiments which got out of control, forming a creature which then evolved into... this. Extremely well-adapted to the conditions of this world. Fast, agile and merciless. Dangerous especially when encountered in groups.
The world of Inner Chains is also full of deadly plants. Look out for them, as they can literally stop you in your tracks. Learn the patterns of their behavior and use your knowledge to fight the servants of the caste.
From emitters of powerful electric charges, through flamethrowers, to stylized classic shotguns with very unusual ammo – weapons play a vital part in the game. However, their mode of operation is very unique: they are essentially parasites inherent to this mysterious world. They interact with the environment and feed off the vital energy of their wielders. Use them carelessly and you may become their prey. Remember that despite the general hostility of your surroundings, you will find areas where you can regain your strength and recharge your weapons.

The visual aspect of the world of Inner Chains has been developed by Tomasz Strzałkowski, the studio’s Founder, Art Director and Creative Director in one person. His work explores themes such as emotions and human life along with its darker aspects. Among the artists who inspire him, Tomasz lists Salvador Dali, Zdzisław Beksiński, H.R. Giger and Hieronymus Bosch. Each of his amazing creations is executed with unique character and style. He often says that his works are like different musical bands – each has its own set of instruments, touches upon different themes in its lyrics, belongs to a different genre and conveys different artistic impressions to the audience. Moreover, music plays an important part in his creative process. Great music can create a unique ambiance and affect the final outcome, becoming another source of inspiration. Since the beginning of his artistic career, Tomasz has utilized 3D technology, which is still a new medium in this branch of art.
We consider the visuals to be an integral part of gameplay – we want the visual style of the world to tell a story of its own. We have made efforts to create breathtaking surroundings that will keep you amazed throughout the game. Every location has been planned thoroughly and executed with great attention to detail, so that you can keep discovering new, unique places.
Inner Chains is powered by the excellent Unreal Engine 4 which allows us to fully utilize our potential and realize our goals.
As far as music is concerned, you can expect heavy, expressive sound, and an atmospheric soundtrack that will help build the eerie mood of the game. The composer of the music is Michał Staczkun , a distinguished artist and a producer of albums by numerous metal bands, such as Hate.
Our studio comprises veteran game developers, who have worked for companies such as CD Projekt RED, People Can Fly, Epic Games, Flying Wild Hog, Platige Image, CreativeForge Games and Techland. They have co-created numerous AAA titles – Ancient Space, BulletStorm, PainKiller, Gears of War, Dying Light, Hard West, Godfire: Rise of Prometheus and The Witcher 3, just to name a few.
Thanks to Dominik Gruca for support with animations, Damian Stempniewski for level design at the begining of the project, Piotr Rusnarczyk for outstanding modelling and texturing and Pawel Swiezak for amazing concept arts.

HOW WE WILL USE YOUR DONATIONS
At the moment, our team is working on Inner Chains full-time. In the course of the past year, our initial vision as well as our expectations towards the game have changed significantly. We see great potential in the world, gameplay and story that we are creating. We are also determined to deliver the best, most polished product possible. This is why a major portion of the funds raised via Kickstarter will go into improving the game. Another part will cover the costs of manufacturing backer rewards. We will be producing them in collaboration with our friends at reliable advertising agencies to guarantee their high quality and comparatively low manufacturing cost. We take our work very seriously and our priority is to create a truly amazing game – both in terms of gameplay and visuals. We are all giving our best to ensure that the final result will meet your expectations.
Risks and challenges
Inner Chains is already at a very advanced stage of development. Numerous vital elements have been implemented, allowing us to test our progress on the spot. The beginnings are always difficult, but we have already overcome all the initial problems and arrived at the current stage, which makes us all the more certain that our strength and determination will remain unchanged on our way towards realizing our dream and releasing Inner Chains.
We know that every project is a great challenge for its creators and we don’t expect Inner Chains to be an exception in this regard. Luckily, all of us have vast experience in creating and releasing video games. The fact that we share a common, cohesive vision, and that many of us have worked together in the past, makes it easier for us to overcome difficulties, tackling them head on. We have also made efforts to minimize any risks related to this project.
