A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
The reinvented plastic cup
Icedivide is an innovative plastic cup that will allow you to enjoy a fresh drink that will not get watered down.
Indeed, thanks to the cone inside it, it is possible to refresh the drink without the ice to get in contact with the liquid.
It is so easy to use! You just need to follow the simple steps below:
flip the cup upside down;
put ice in it;
close with the lid provided;
flip the plastic cup again;
pour the desired drink in the cup;
And finally, here's your cold drink that is not watered down anymore!
No more melted ice in your beverages....only iced drinks!!!
The Icedivide plastic cup is designed to comfortably contain up to 0.5 net liter of your favorite drink (around 1 pint!!!!).
In addition, thickness is 1 mm, around ten times the size of a standard plastic cup. Height is around 14.5 cm.
Icedivide is designed and made in Italy, is made of polypropylene (PP), and due to its characteristics it is recyclable, reusable and it can be washed in a dishwasher.
How it was born...
It all starts with a story...
Summer has finally come and time is ripe for enjoying the seaside, the beach, the hot sun, their colors and smells.
In those hot and sunny days, what's better than an ice-cold drink? So what will you do? You rush to the nearest kiosk on the beach and you order your favorite drink, with ice, so that it will make the burning thirst disappear... but there's a problem. You already know that, once you'll get the drink, it will soon start to get watered down.
But from now on, it will never be the case anymore!
In fact, here's the revolutionary plastic cup that will let you drink your beverages in total relax, without the slightest worry that your ice might melt.
The prototype (i.e the Icedivide plastic cup you see in the video and in the pictures) has been handcrafted realized in polypropylene (i.e. the same material of the industrial Icedivide plastic cups) to test and show the features and the size of Icedivide plastic cup. The funds collected will allow us to industrially produce the Icedivide plastic cups (i.e. to design and made the industrial mold, to get proper certifications and to produce it in large scale). The industrial version will be 1 mm thick and therefore it could be a little bit more opaque than the prototype. In addition, some minor changes to the shape could be made to meet production needs.

Risks and challenges
The funds raised will allow us to design and produce the mold which cost is quite high due to the reinvented and innovative shape of the plastic cup.
We have made some prototypes with the 3D prints, then we made the prototype in polypropylene shown in the video and in the pictures, then we have contacted some manufacturer and we got some estimations of the costs.
Initial feasibility study has been conducted together with the manufacturers: complete feasibility studies can be finalized during the design and the mold realization phases.
After the successful campaign, we will move on with the mold creation and the industrial production of Icedivide plastic cups.
