A True Story Set in Modern Times
In 1990, after the fall of communism, Czechoslovakia president Havel declared amnesty for all prisoners. Except for the hardest, violent criminals at Leopoldov maximum security prison. What happened as a result was one of the toughest, bloodiest riots in over a quarter of a century.
Our movie project documents the riots in a feature film set in modern times. We’ve set it in modern times instead of 1990 so we can better captivate audiences with the latest procedures, equipment, and weaponry. In other words, we can make a better action flick so audiences experience the adrenaline rush that comes with the edge-of-your-seat action and suspense created in films today.
Why We Want to Shoot It
Let’s face it. Some of the biggest box office hits of all time were based on true stories. Think Apollo 13, Schindler’s List, Argo, and Titanic. Even movies like 50 First Dates, the cult classic The Blob, and the Pursuit of Happyness were based on real events. Real life is always better than fiction. We all know that. And when it contains heart pumping action and breathless suspense, then it’s even better!
The truth is, there have been a few documentaries produced about the Leopoldov prison riots, but never a feature film like this before. We never understood why when movies such as Total Recall and V for Vendetta (both featuring graphic riots) were such a huge success.
When you think about it, this is a film that has been waiting to be made – and waiting to be a success! It has all the elements of a box office hit (based on a true story, graphic violence, action, suspense…). That’s why we need your help so we can raise the money needed to get our film into production.
This is What We’re Doing (And How)
We are going to take the prison revolt and bring it to you on the screen just as it happened. In this movie, you won’t see professional actors playing roles. After all, when you bring Hollywood actors into a movie, the part they play will be based on their “take” of the role just as much as the facts. We don’t want that because that distorts the reality of it.
- We want the real action, not modified drama.
- We want the real cast of characters, not A-list faces.
- We want to portray the graphic violence, not focus on lead roles and big name credits.
Overall, we want to feature the riot and the events that occurred with the same intensity as they really happened. For that reason, our cast consists of real-life characters, not Hollywood stars.
You’re going to see actual members of the SWAT units that participated in the revolt – as well as real convicts – right there on the screen. They recreate the action for you, showing the actual response and telling the real stories of people who lived their roles, and they play them much better than hired actors or stuntmen.
We have a 30 member production team in place to start shooting if we can raise the money. Our team consists of film professionals and special units to advise us on action scenes. We also have several consultants who were on-hand during the revolt who round out our team and keep our film as factual as it is interesting.
We will record the movie itself using top quality movie cameras such as RED cameras. RED cameras are responsible for shooting the Emmy-nominated series House of Cards, as well as the films the Hobbit and Robocop.
If we raise enough money, we can also create a 3D version. There are also extra scenes we can shoot for the movie, including the liberation of hostages on the train. Again, this is centered on real life events, and how much we can do depends on how much money we raise.
The soundtrack music will be recorded by the Prague Film Orchestra, which recorded “Gonna Fly Now” from the movie Rocky as well as many other motion pictures. The Prague Film Orchestra is led by Conductor Jiri Korynta, who is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only man who can professionally play 34 instruments.
How You Can Help Us
We need your help raising money to put this movie into production. We are independent filmmakers. That means we’re not associated with any huge production company. So every dime that goes into this film comes from our pockets, the money we raise, and YOU!
Whether you give us 20, 30, or 5,000 bucks – it’s up to you. Every cent we make goes to the production of this film. However, if we don’t meet our goal here on Kickstarter, we don’t get to keep any of the money donated to us, so it’s important to us and to the future of our movie that we meet the goal.
Even if you can’t afford to donate at this moment, please help us spread the word about our project by simply sharing this page on Facebook, Twitter, or by email. As our thanks, you can go to www.bad-situation.com to download free wallpapers relating to the movie. And once we collect the funds, you will be able to download our theatrical trailer for free! Every bit of your help… helps us!
The entire team THANKS YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Risks and challenges
There are risks and challenges with the production of any movie. The biggest challenge we face is raising the money for production. We want to have the budget to afford the equipment, cast, and crew we need to produce the best quality movie possible and give us the results we want to deliver. That’s why we’re here on Kickstarter asking for your help.
In terms of commitment and finishing the movie, we plan to go all the way with this digital release film and worldwide premier. In fact, we’ve been working on this movie project for over a year already! Every penny we raise will go to paying for equipment, cast, crew, rewards, and other expenses that are directly associated with producing this movie. We are professionals in every sense of the word, and we take making this movie very seriously. This isn’t some concept we came up with overnight. In fact, we are ready to start production, but first need to raise more money to make it possible financially.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
