Hi! Thank you for stopping by! We're a small toy company started by four friends who are on a mission to share our toys with you. We believe that Love, like hugs and snacks, is best when shared. This is our story and why we're on Kickstarter.
It all started when In-Hae came over to Bonnie's house one dark and stormy night. She came over for a dinner of homemade dumplings because Bonnie was finally able to make some. Bonnie had promised to make lots of dumplings to thank In-Hae for helping her make all sorts of stuff for her wedding. After going into food coma, In-Hae showed Bonnie a picture of the stuffed dinosaur toys she made for her boyfriend.
Bonnie didn't know In-Hae was showing her the photos only for her to see what she had made. Bonnie thought In-Hae was showing her the photos to ask her if this would be something she'd buy. Bonnie said "Yes! I'll take them!" and In-Hae had to gently let Bonnie know that they weren't for sale. Bonnie was sad...but determined.
Long story short, all of our toys are ready to go to new homes!
Our toys are sold in sets of two because you get to keep one for yourself (yay!!!) and you give the other one to someone you love. Every toy features a very noticeable red stitch that represents Love. There's a very old legend that says a red thread links two people together. We believe every person is a tapestry of these red threads and that's why we sell our toys in sets of 2 and up. :)
However, for the purpose of Kickstarter, a "set" will consist of 2 toys. For example, a set of Love and Dumplings = 1 Love (heart shape) toy and 1 Dumpling (dumpling shape), a set of small Monkey toys = 1 small girl Monkey and 1 small boy Monkey.
Our dream is to sell our toys on Etsy and in various conventions all over the country! But that's not all! We believe in giving back so we'll be donating a portion of every sale from Etsy and conventions to a charitable organization that we hold near and dear to our hearts.
But first things first. We really Really REALLY want to be a part of this convention and hope you can help us!
All of our toys are designed by us and are all original. We make them all by hand. We hand finish all the details, stuff them all by hand, stitch by hand and use a sewing machine to help speed up the process.
We're on Kickstarter because we need the money to produce some toys to sell at an upcoming convention in Los Angeles. All of our toy designs have been finalized and are ready to be made!
Here's why we need your help and how it all breaks down :
- quality serger machine to help us make our stitches stronger and will also help speed up the process of making our toys.
- supplies (fabric, eco-friendly felt, polyfill stuffing, needles and thread)
- a super awesome website to promote our cute toys
- convention and legal fees (application fees, space rental, table rental, temporary seller's permit, parking).
Please take a look over to the right for the great rewards you'll be getting when you support us.
Please note : When the reward says "set", each set is made of two toys. So, for example, a Small Monkey Set means you get BOTH monkeys designs!
These are the toys you will be getting. The Dumpling (dumpling shaped toy) and Love (heart shape toy) shown is what you'll be getting in the Love and Dumpling toy set. The dinosaurs shown are the large Dinosaurs. The Foxes shown are the medium Foxes. The two sizes of Monkeys shown are the small and the medium sizes.
Because these are hand made, fabric and trim details may be subject to availability.
Thank you so much!!!
Bonnie, In-Hae, Margaret and Tak.
.:: REWARD UPDATE! ::.
We've updated our rewards! As an incentive to Team Love & Dumplings, Bonnie told them she'll take them out for an All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ dinner with some KARAOKE after as a reward for being fully funded!
But why limit the fun to just us? That's why we're extending it out to you, our backers! Please note that the reward is limited to just you, the backer, and you must either be in the Los Angeles area or make your own arrangements to be in the Los Angeles area.
Please see reward level $750, $2000, $3500 and $6000.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge we'll face is getting everything made in a timely manner. While we'd love to promise getting your rewards to you in time for Christmas, we don't want to make promises we can't keep. We'll do our best but since we make all our toys by hand sewing and our one, old sewing machine, a more realistic shipping date is in January.
We have the designs translated into patterns already. The first hurdle will be cutting out all the patterns that go into making each toy. The next hurdle will be sewing, stuffing and stitching them all together.
Our battle plan is to work on making and finishing each toy as the pledges come in. All 4 of us are prepared to sew, stuff and stitch as fast as we can to make this happen because we are so grateful for all the support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
