Last Update: More Mechanics! Suits and Classes
"Zeerust: The particular kind of datedness which afflicts things that were originally designed to look futuristic." - Douglas Adams
Hi! My name's Dylan, and I'd like to welcome you to the world of Zeerust. Thanks for checking us out!
Zeerust is a tabletop roleplaying game that focuses on creating stories about a group of heroes in a colourful and bombastic science fiction universe, inspired by those seen in:
- Star Wars
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Star Trek
- Cowboy Bebop
- ... and many more!
If you're anything like me, you love stories about groups of mismatched friends exploring, living and surviving in the vastness of space. Stories that explore a range of science fiction concepts, imaginative and diverse settings and even different genres.
But even more than their exciting adventures, the reason we love those stories is the characters themselves. Getting to know them, uncovering their past alongside their future. Seeing them react to the wonderfully imagined worlds around them, learning and growing both as individuals and as a family. These are the kinds of stories Zeerust wants to help you tell.
Zeerust uses the unique "Aces" dice pool system to generate results without any mathematics or modifiers, making sure you can get straight back to the action.
The Aces system also focuses on teamwork - your characters are a team rather than a group of individuals, mechanically aiding and enforcing each other with every roll.
Every single Zeerust character is one-of-a-kind straight out of character creation, with things like backstory and personality affecting their mechanics as much as their class or race without compromising the game's balance.
Zeerust is simple and easy to learn, and is an ideal game for newcomers to RPGs as well as veterans looking for a change of pace.
The ~80 page book contains all the rules you'll need to play the game, from information on guns and gadgets to the various components of a starship. For players, there is an extensive section on creating characters, including five sample races, eight composite classes and a host of other customisation options to make your character truly your own.
There are also special rules on conflicts such as fights, action scenes and dramatic conversations, ensuring the moments of high tension in your story carry the right amount of weight for everyone at the table.
As a thank you for backing this project, you'll be able to get a code for either just a PDF of the game or a physical copy as well. For the Space Pirate tier and above, we're also offering a starter adventure just for you backers, to help kick off your Zeerust stories. We'll also bundle in rules for a few extra races, items and other cool stuff, some of which will be made by you!
Check the rewards at the side of this page for more info.
All rewards, physical and digital, are being delivered through DriveThruRPG. This means that you can download and purchase print-on-demand books using codes which will be delivered once the project is complete.
Please note: your pledge does not cover printing and shipping costs! Those will go directly to DriveThruRPG when you order your book as they are the ones dealing with printing and shipping, not me :) Please make sure you bear any extra costs in mind when backing!

I'm coming to Kickstarter to raise funds to finish work on the game, as well as produce more amazing artwork for the final book. I'd really love a game book bursting with awesome artwork!
I also want to turn to you, fans of gaming and science fiction, to help create bonus material for your fellow backers! We all have our own ideas for great sci fi stories burning inside us, and I'd love to work with you to integrate them into the game and make your concepts playable in Zeerust.
I want this game to not just be my own vision, but something that a community of people can all be a part of and help build together.
Thanks for your time! I hope you'll consider backing Zeerust.
Risks and challenges
This is my first project, so I've kept risk to an absolute minimum. All printing, shipping and handling is being handled by the excellent DriveThruRPG service, and the estimated delivery date of November is a fairly conservative guess. You may well be playing Zeerust a month or so sooner!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
