In early June, I will be recording Guided Imagery, my first CD as a composer, of selected original chamber works! The recording session will occur over 3 days at the Peabody Conservatory's recording studio in Baltimore. The featured piece of the CD will be my recently premiered work of the same name, which is a ten-movement song cycle written for Marques J. Ruff, bass-baritone, with oboe and piano accompaniment. My good friend and oboist, Dylan Armstrong, will be playing with myself on the piano. The piece is settings of poems by Linda Beher, another great friend and beautiful poet. The work received a high energy premiere on February 27th in front of an enthusiastic audience in Hartford, and I want to carry the energy from the premiere into a recording.
The other featured work will be my 7 Sketches for Clarinet Trio, which is a fun, short chamber work of undeveloped motives and melodies in a sort of cross-over realm. With a few improvised sections, and the use of the Cello as a walking bass, this piece is light, yet expressive and beautiful.
I could really use your help to help fund this project! You'll notice there are options to simply pre-order the CD for $15.00, as well as give in higher amounts.
How your donations will help me:
-Help pay for the 4 professional musicians on the session, including transportation and lodging
-Help pay for the recording engineer and team onsite
-Help pay for the hours of mixing and mastering of the CD
-Help pay for CD jacket artwork
-Help pay for the production, and reproduction of the hard copy CD's
I have for a long time awaited the "right time" to begin work on my first CD. With the current excitement around Guided Imagery, and with the summer upon us, now is the time!
