Yes, the cost that we'd have to raise for hardcover and/or color domestic printing would have to be at least 3 times the current goal. I want to have the book printed here in the U.S., so it can be ready to send out to backers this summer. Otherwise it would have to be sent to China, which takes over a year, and can cost almost as much, with import tariffs and all. And then the retail cost of the book would price it out of many people's budget.
IF, for some reason, the funding would be SUPER successful, we could have a stretch goal of color and/or hardcover. I really wish it could be done that way, but in the meantime I am going to make sure the black and white is of high quality with rich tones. Black and white is where drawing always begins for me, so it benefits the story of my process and results.
To help offset the monotone is why I also put color prints as a higher level reward so that I can share an exclusive detailed full-color drawing with the book.
I hope you'll still want the book, as it will be nice looking and informative!
