Hello, we are the creators of Crapola! What is Crapola, you ask? It's a high-fiber breakfast cereal, which we named by playfully combining the words cranberry, apple, and granola. And it happens to be delicious.
To be completely honest, our business started as a joke. We thought it would be fun to make a gourmet granola with a humorous name, and we sold our first batches of Crapola at our local farmer's market here in Ely, Minnesota. The response was very encouraging, and we came to find great satisfaction in pleasing our customers with our unique combination of humor and wholesome food.
Eight years later, we have grown considerably. We expanded our product line, adding three more flavors. Each batch is hand crafted in small batches, and with the best ingredients we can find. Thanks to the continued support of our 'regular' customers, we have grown every year since we began, and Crapola is now sold in close to 200 stores throughout Minnesota and beyond!
We have learned a lot along the way. We're proud of our accomplishments, and excited for the future. Unfortunately, our tiny bakery is nearing the limit of production capacity and it's clear that we need to increase our output in order to meet the growing demand for our products.
We are hoping to move to a larger production facility. We don't want to have to hire someone else to make our granola - we prefer to continue making our products ourselves.
We have identified a suitable location for our new bakery. The structure is a historic building that has been vacant for several years. Now there are plans to restore it to its original grandeur. The interior has been gutted, we have approval from the local planning and zoning commission, and an architect has drawn preliminary plans for our future bakery. Much preliminary work has been done already.
However, our limited resources don't allow us to purchase the necessary equipment for this expansion. Among other items, we will need a larger oven, mixer, dishwasher, packaging machinery, and many smaller utensils to outfit the new facility. We are humbly asking for your help with this expense. Check out our rewards! We have lots of great stuff to offer at all pledge levels, and we hope you'll find something you like.
If our campaign is successful, we hope to begin work immediately afterward. Thank you for visiting our Kickstarter page. We sincerely appreciate your support!
Risks and challenges
Of course there are risks and challenges with any business venture. We have learned a lot during our eight years in business. We have learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and adaptation. We have grown our business, but it has also grown us. With regard to the renovation of our future facility, there are many details to consider, there is much work to be accomplished, and there is a good chance that we will uncover some surprises along the way. There may be delays, and there may be developments that require us to adjust our plan. We have an experienced contractor and architect to help us navigate the process. We will continue to operate out of our current production facility until the new space is ready. We are committed to our customers, to growing our company, and to making this project succeed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
