Town Squares is a card game for 2-4 players. It’s a fun, easy to learn, competitive strategy game in which players take turn placing cards to earn points while at the same time taking points away from others.
The game was created by Darren Ballingall - a game designer from Melbourne, Australia. Darren decided to pursue a life creating games for a living and hopes that this will be the first step in a successful game designing venture. The first goal that is trying to be reached - $2000 - will be enough to produce the game, but additional funds would help to give diversity to the game.
“I have always loved games and the way that good games bring people together. You can really get to know somebody through the shared experience of playing games.” - Darren
As the decks are shuffled each time, and you get to decide where you are placing them in the layout of the game, every game is different and individual. You will never play the same one twice.
Games with 2 players tend to be fast and furious - about 5 to 10 minutes in length. More players add to this time and games with 4 players can be from 10 - 20 minutes in length. You could have a quick game anywhere you like as it’s highly portable: on a table at a cafe, on a coffee table at home, or on a blanket at the beach.
The design for Town Squares is a simple, clean set of icons representing the 5 different buildings involved. This makes it easy to see what is going on and what you need to do.
As stretch goals are reached new crest designs will be unlocked and backers will get the chance to choose from these. Some theme packs will also get appropriate face card re-designs, since European Castles are not not relevant in Ancient China.

The game box contains 52 square cards:
4 different colours of 13 cards each
An instruction sheet
2 “cheat sheet” cards to help with scoring (not shown)
The cards are 2 inches/5cm square - a handy in-your-pocket travel size!
If the kickstarter is funded then I will post in-depth tutorials on YouTube explaining how to play and score each of the 5 different types of cards.
The cards will be produced through Make Playing Cards (makeplayingcards.com) who are experience card manufacturers which should result in a high quality deck.
The Fancy card packs will be a little thicker with more ornate designs. The packaging will also be embossed to add to the premium feel.
Shipment to Australia is included in the base price. Sadly Australia is far away from every other continent so an additional shipping fee is required for international orders.

Hopefully the campaign will be funded by the end of April 2016. If the campaign is successful, once the funds are transferred I can immediately send out the order to the manufacturer. As soon as they arrive they will be sent out to backers. If all goes according to plan then you should have your game by the end of June 2016 - so fast!
Risks and challenges
The main risks and challenges with this campaign involve the manufacturing time and turnaround of getting the card packs delivered to us. This must all happen before we can pack them and mail them to the backers.
Artwork and design for the different themes will be finalised as each one is unlocked which should not be a lengthy process. Most goals have been roughly sketched out and can be revealed if the campaign is wildly successful.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
