About this project
Language in Motion brings together individuals who share a common passion for learning, exploring and growing through language education and cultural understanding. We are dedicated to providing high quality language classes while also creating opportunities to leave a lasting positive impact on local communities.
Language in Motion provides the flexibility to schedule your private language classes around work, school, friends and family commitments. Our teaching methods maximize student engagement, and we provide convenient tools for payment and scheduling. We match our students and language teachers based on their shared location, interests and experiences. Personal relationships, cultural exchanges and flexibility distinguish Language in Motion from other companies.
Language in Motion has received class requests from students all over the world. Growing global interest demonstrates the value of our classes. We would like to increase the number of paid classes we are able to provide and also offer our language classes to individuals who would benefit from them but cannot afford them.
With the funds from our Kickstarter campaign, we will develop a more robust website and incorporate a free educational program into our business model.
We currently connect each teacher and student manually, but rapidly increasing demand for our classes is outpacing our human resources. Our new website will digitally match this growing user base.
Our Language in Motion team in Rio de Janeiro will provide English classes and an entrepreneurial course for small business owners in low-income areas of Rio. Initial funding is necessary to structure and to incorporate local leadership into this program, which will be sustained with profit from our paid classes. Our goal is to provide these classes wherever we have a significant teacher base.
There is widespread interest and attention focused on Rio de Janeiro as host for the 2016 Olympics, creating a valuable opportunity for the entrepreneurs in our program. Learning English is crucial for these entrepreneurs so that they will be able to effectively communicate with tourists visiting the city for this international event.
Our team is excited about this project and their enthusiasm will inspire others to contribute to the nonprofit program. Our teachers will network with professionals throughout the city, make a positive contribution during their stay in Rio, and experience a unique cultural immersion within the city's dynamic entrepreneurial community.
Your pledge brings us one step closer to successfully meeting our funding goal. With your support, we will be able to efficiently provide classes for our growing user base and to create our first free educational program.
You will help us in our mission to create opportunities through education and to increase cultural understanding while leaving a lasting positive impact on local communities.
A series of short documentary films will chronicle the expansion of Language in Motion and our experiences building the free educational program in Rio de Janeiro. We will highlight the personal stories of the small business owners selected for our entrepreneurial program. We will also include interviews with our teachers, students and other members of our team.

Risks and challenges
The following examples illustrate how we are proactively planning to overcome some of our primary challenges.
1) Website development is delayed or fails to function as intended:
An iterative process of build/test/revise will be strictly maintained. Payments will be made in installments based on the degree of success in achieving project specifications by the set deadlines.
2) Finding local volunteers:
Members of the Language in Motion team will recruit students from Rio de Janeiro's public and private universities to assist in teaching our nonprofit entrepreneurship course. We will focus on incorporating students with majors related to the nonprofit objectives and will explore the option of service learning (course credit for community service).
3) Selection of entrepreneurs for our course:
Language in Motion will work in partnership with other nonprofits and educational institutions to find and evaluate potential candidates. We will develop a rubric for final selection to ensure equal opportunity and to maximize the positive impact of our program.
