About this project
Our vision is to make an all new point and click adventure game with the same feel and vibe as some of the classic games we love (Quest for Glory, Roger Wilco, Monkey Island, etc..) but with our own "Epic" twist. Were using the same "old-school" resolution as those games to give it that retro feel. The gameplay and story-line will have a mysterious atmosphere of "What's going to happen next?", "Who can I trust?", "What's truly going on?!". As you begin the game, you're exploring the city of Cosmos, looking for answers to how a plague that has consumed your loved ones is spreading. Where did it come from? Is there a cure? These questions will pull the main character, Alum, into a grand quest of discovering love, evil, deep truths, conspiracy, rebel factions, friendly monsters, and monstrous friends.
The game will have completely hand drawn characters, backgrounds and animations.
Alum will also include an amazing original soundtrack of musical excellence to help craft the dynamic atmospheres. Ranging from driving beats to ambient orchestrations. Check this beat \/ \/ \/

Alum Descry is a 26 year old man who has lived a seemingly simple life. His entire life in the city of Cosmos has been peaceful and easy to maintain. The Mayor of the city, "Mr.Glym", is praised for all his heroic acts and the genuine kindness he shows to all the inhabitants of Cosmos. Mr.Glym is also highly revered for the invention and production of E-bots (robots that protect Cosmos from creatures of darkness that come from the frozen wasteland outside the city). The city of Cosmos was designed to make all aspects of living -school, work, protection and entertainment- as convenient and comfortable as can be. Alum is married to a beautiful woman named Esther, and they have lived contently in love for two years together as Alum works as a message runner for "The Golden Stork" (the mailing system for the city of Cosmos). But within the last few months, Esther has become dull, growing more and more despondent with every passing day. It has gotten so bad that she hasn't spoken in two weeks. The emptiness in the connection between Alum and his wife is destroying him inside, day in and day out. Rumor has it, there is an epidemic known as "The Vague" sweeping through Cosmos. It is apparently plaguing more and more people with an overwhelming sense of disconnection and causing them to seem more dead to each other than alive. Alum is fearful that he himself is infected. Underneath the surface, his heart is growing hopeless and cold. This is where you the player, begin; as he steps outside his door for another day of work, Alum is really being drawn to step outside of the system he's always lived in, in order to find some answers! There is a deeper force at work, orchestrating the situations around him that will ultimately bring him into full discovery of who he really is, and will unveil the depths of what's really going on.
Do you have the wits and bravery to guide Alum along his epic journey?
Since we don’t have any formal backround/history/credentials in the game industry, and didn’t go into detail about it in the kickstarter video, I will explain our roles and give some backround:
Micah, who is programming the game, is very great at crafting story’s, making puzzles, and will also be doing some of the animations, and a lot of the music, as he too is an awesome musician…“Alum” is very much his brainchild and he is super excited to get his ideas “out there”. He’s very goofy (in fact, we all are, as you probably noticed in the kickstarter video), but he is one of those “secret genius” type of people…he’s also really good/fluent with AGS and has worked on a few small, personal projects w/ it in the past. Luke and Brittany, are creating the background art and animations, and doing music for the game. Brittany has been an artist her whole life and attended specialized art schools and programs from grade-school through college. She also writes music, plays guitar, and is a photographer for a living. She is super creative and has a cool, “cartoony” style in a lot of her artwork. Luke is an extremely talented and experienced musician and artist. He will be doing the BG art and animations and will be involved with much of the music in the game. He has been "creating" since he was a child, whether drawing, painting, or writing music and he is totally confident in his abilities to make the game-world look creative, unique and feel “classic”.
We're all fans of the classic adventure games and feel we have played/studied enough of them to know what makes them great and fun, what works, and more importantly, what doesn't work.
It is still very early on in development, but we're shooting for (assuming we make the goal) a full-length game w/ probably about 80+ BG’s, a ton of animations, original music production, full voice acting, and maybe some form of cut-scenes/comic strips to portray certain important moments in the story. With all of this in mind, you can imagine it is going to be quite a bit of work for our 3 person team… but we are excited and ambitious and can’t wait to see what happens.
The game will be made available exclusively for digital download on PC.
Of course, a big chunk of the money will go towards reward fulfillment, to make sure our backers get all the juicy things they've been promised. A smaller but important chunk is earmarked for kickstarter fees and tax.
The rest is being invested in artists, musicians, voice actors, recording studio time, and anyone else we need to bring on board to see Alum come to fruition.
Anything after that is going towards our survival while we pour our lives into making Alum as professional and as epic as possible.

Risks and challenges
This is our first full game, but we know how long things can take and how problems constantly surface. We are fully confident in our ability to tackle this project... fully prepared to trudge through the hard times and invest the time it takes to make this game great. The game should be completed by April 2014 if not sooner.
