Update 20602849

Posted by Bear Butt (Creator)

Hey all,

I can only imagine how frustrating the wait on these is/can be for you guys. It's frustrating for us as well, as things keep getting pushed back with our suppliers. But, it is fair to give you an update and let you know where we're at with things.

Jackets and Sleeping Bags are finished production. We are just waiting on the backpacks to be finished production. The backpack factory has taken much longer than originally anticipated. We will then have goods shipped to us and will ship them out to you. Unfortunately, we don't have a definite timeline to offer you. We apologize for this, and will do our best to keep updating you and give you information as we get it.

If you have any questions, please message us @

Will we ever receive our orders? Have you taken the money and run?

You can go to their youtube channel and watch the videos in order to literally watch them tank their company. I was annoyed until I watched these, now I'm just fully sure the product is never coming.

    3. Chris Fox on

Hey there. Just wondering if there’s any new update on the production of the backpacks? As I understand it, none of the products will ship from China until those are done?

Any updates yet??? Honestly did not think it would take this long, purchased last year and still waiting seriously!!! This is rediculous

Why is it so hard for your company to give its Kickstarter backers updated? March is only a few days away, and we’ve heard nothing from you since December 13th. All you need to do is a check in once a month even if there’s not really any real update. This is really souring me on backing anything on Kickstarter in the future.

im over being frustrated and just annoyed. i have reached out several times to get my name taken off the list so that my card doesnt get charged and they tell me every time it is not possible because they are already being made..... i dont care its been a year. i am going to fight the charge once or if it ever comes.

I like your company products and hope one day I'll be able to say the same for the backpack.
However, sadly you have violated the unwritten cardinal kickstarter rule of keeping project supporters informed with regular updates. As a result, it's unlikely I'll ever support any future kickstarter project from your company.

where can I send my updated shipping address?
I cant believe the items are not ready yet until I move out...

What gives? I haven’t heard anything in months! Where are our products?!

I have all but lost faith that these items will be delivered. I hope that I am wrong.

I, like many others, was excited about supporting a "Made In The USA" company. That was the first let down.

The second let down is an almost total lack of company professionalism. a) Any delay in production must come with frequent communication to each order. Random updates, spread over weeks or months apart compounds this issue. b) Not knowing the exact status of manufacturing, not getting information from the manufacturer and sharing with the customers is also like a black eye. Blaming the manufacturer in China for delays after originally promising a USA made product further compounds frustration of your customers. If I were in BearButt's shoes, somebody(s)'s email would be blowing up daily asking for answers and product ETAs. The information would then be extensively shared with the customers. Transparency is by far a better option over lack of communication. I am not the only one asking for more frequent updates and proof that this project has not fallen on its face. It is not fair to us to be left in the dark. When all of this started there was so many updates and all with positive outlooks. Just read the comments here and tell me that has not changed.

I expect the product quality and durability to be beyond good to the point of excellent. Anything less and you should be prepared for refunds and returns. A year of waiting deserves an outstanding result.

Please understand how much this has created a negative impact on potential future business from many of us who supported this venture. The BearButtTeam needs to have a plan to re-establish the "feel good vibe" that we had nearly a year ago and makes things right with the company's customers.

The fact that I've had to update my address twice since we were first asked for shipping addresses shows that it's been TOO LONG. If the jackets were done at the time of this last update, where are they?

    16. Missing avatar

      Steven Richardson on

Even if there's no new news, we're overdue an update!

Michael, Matthew, and team at Bear butt,
You said "will do our best to keep updating you and give you information as we get it."
Its been over a month and you haven't revived any update? I was really excited about this product now i am just sad that there is no idea of when we will get our items. Its been over a year i think more updates would go a long way. people are losing faith in Bear Butt please more UPDATES!!!!!!!!

      CJ Paluf on

So I think a year to wait for products that were initially promised April/2018 is absolutely ridiculous. At this point we should be getting weekly updates. If we don't hear anything by the end of the month I'll be pursuing a chargeback with my credit card company and I'd encourage the other backers to do the same.

    20. Missing avatar

      Maddy on

This process would be less frustrating if you could update us once in a while! Can you please tell us how far along the backpacks are?

    21. Missing avatar

      Roger Church on

We are just sad about this now. We remember when Update #7 reported that the products would be shipped to Utah and then mailed out by December 15th..... that has a exciting time.
We hope Update # 9 tells us the truth.

So nearly a year for a jacket from China promoted to be made here leaves a bad taste I could have bought a dozen jackets by now and it was never about the product but supporting a company that was going to create American made product extremely disappointed

January 6th 2019 - Any New updates? Any way you can post photos of the products (jackets/sleeping bags) for "proof of life"?

    24. Brad Dancer

I only got a jacket - go ahead and ship it!

I still just want my gear. It's been extremely disheartening to watch you guys break every promise you've made, and miss every deadline you set. It's VERY hard to imagine how that doesn't boil down to simple incompetence. On top of that, it's been months between updates, which is just inexcusable. The last thing I heard was what, September, when you said that you'd be shipping in time to get our gear to us by Xmas? Now, on Dec 13th, you say "It's gonna be longer, probably soon, but we don't really know." And you say "it's fair to give you an update." Dang right it is! It's way overdue! You say you'll "do our best to keep updating you and give you information as we get it." Really? You will? Like you've done so far? Incredible. As in, lacking credibility.

As I said, I still want the gear I ponied up for. But after this, how could you ever expect that any backers could ever trust you to deliver on a promise ever again?

    26. Missing avatar

      Lindy Minert on

So am I to understand that even though the jackets and sleeping bags are done, they're not shipping from China until the backpacks are also done??? Thus leaving us with no idea as to when we'll receive them...

    27. Missing avatar

      Gordon Jack on

Yes it has taken quite a bit more time than anyone had expected or hoped. Yes it would be nice to get more frequent updates as to the progress of the products. I had hoped to get the items in the spring, then hoping for a summer delivery and then it was Christmas. Now I hope that the items are shipped before next summer. Please keep us in the loop especially knowing that the company is moving locations.

    28. Seann Bear Goodman on

I don't know why you have the gall to call out larger companies (North Face and Eagles Nest) when you a) can't get your kickstarter completed and b) are not following through on your promise of USA made. I'm losing hope and can't see the vision that you promised.

    29. Missing avatar

      Karla Smith on

First of all your sales pitch for USA made things is why we supported you. Then you delay production to seek out overseas manufacturing. That means you are no longer making your product in the USA. I am frustrated that you didn’t create jobs in the US and that it has been over a year since the campaign started.

    30. Missing avatar

      Tammy on

Thank you so much for the update, guys. I know this process has been as deflating for you as it has been for all of us. We still believe in you! Please don't lose your fire and faith.

    31. Jordan White on

Thank you for the update! Excited to hear that over half the items are finished. I'm frustrated that I won't have the backpack for this upcoming semester but very glad to know that I'll be getting it eventually.

Also, it would go a long way with all of us if you just sent out more frequent and more specific updates. That was the nice thing about the Podcast, we could see behind the scenes into Bear Butt and felt like we were a part of the journey instead of constantly being in the dark.

Hoping that I'll get my backpack by late February!

Thanks for the Update =) And thanks for all the hard work you guys are putting in. I know it hasnt been an easy path and both sides have gotten frustrated but i know in the end it will all work out.

      Steven Richardson on

      Thanks for the update.
It's reassuring to hear from you even if there's no good backpack news, yet.
Keep in touch every couple weeks and I won't have to worry about being forgotten.

    34. Missing avatar

      Heidi Wibawa on

      Hey guys,
Most of us I believe only ordered one type of product.
It should be reasonable enough to sift through the pledges and start shipping all the orders that does not contain backpack.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to the jacket maybe can use spring of 2019 if this progresses now. :')

Hey Lindy, the items will be shipped from overseas around the same time, so all gear will be shipped out at once

    37. Missing avatar

      Lindy Minert on

Thanks for the update! For those of us who didn't order a backpack, will our items be shipping soon then?
