Adventurous Music Invades the Village of Carlsbad!
$12K for 120 FREE performances in our 12th season!
Carlsbad Music Festival is presenting its 12th annual summer festival of "adventurous music by the beach" August 28-30, 2015 in the beautiful seaside Village of Carlsbad, in addition to our 3rd annual Village Music Walk on June 20, 2015.
In celebration of our 12th season, we're asking your help to raise $12,000 to enable the over 120 FREE events that will make this year’s Festival the best and most successful yet. We are a grassroots 501c(3) non-profit and your donation is tax deductible to the full extent of the law. While we receive support from the City of Carlsbad, the County of San Diego, and private foundations, donations from individuals like you are our single largest source of funding.

What we are asking for:
We are asking for your support to make our 12th season our best ever! The August Carlsbad Music Festival and June Village Music Walk are community events, and it takes the support of the community to make them happen. We are raising funds on Kickstarter to directly support these free events that everyone can enjoy this summer.
These FREE events are:
Village Music Walk - Saturday, June 20
30 FREE performances
The Village Walk features 30 musicians playing 60 sets in 6 hours throughout the Village of Carlsbad. An extension of the August Carlsbad Music Festival, the Village Music Walk is an all-ages, free-of-charge, community event that features a wide array of music performed in outdoor and indoor spaces throughout the historic Village of Carlsbad.
30 adventurous bands and ensembles will take part in the free June 20 Village Music Walk. Highlights include: Euphoria Brass Band – a New Orleans traditional jazz brass band with an edgy twist, contemporary classical cellist Jennifer Bewerse, live scores to silent films by madcap multi-instrumentalist Scott Paulson and the Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra, Persian classical music by Kourosh Taghavi Trio, and award-winning folk-pop duo The Lovebirds.
Carlsbad Music Festival - Aug 28-30, 2015
30 FREE performances
The August Music Festival, which offers an affordably-ticketed Mainstage concert series to the community, also provides an entirely free-admission extravaganza of concerts throughout the Village of Carlsbad. Dozens of musicians will perform adventurous sets of music, in venues from public parks and parking lots, to local restaurants and stores.
The three-day August Festival will present an amazing line-up of musical performances in the 11-year tradition of previous festivals. Recent seasons have featured world-class performances by David Lang (2008 Pulitzer Prize winner), Dawn of Midi, Steven Schick, Wu Man, Art of Elan, Sacra/Profana, Calder Quartet, Claire Chase (2012 MacArthur Genius Grant winner), Roomful of Teeth, Carolyn Shaw (2013 Pulitzer Prize winner), and Peter Sprague.
These two events are projected to draw and entertain a total of 8000 community members and cultural tourists.

Risks and challenges
One benefit of entering our 12th anniversary season is that we’ve had 11 years of experience putting on the Festival. Funding for a small non-profit is always challenging, but the Festival continues to grow its budget, allowing us to mount more ambitious Festivals each year. This Kickstarter campaign will help with the funding challenges. We consistently bring in fascinating and highly talented musicians, and are proud to be a respected part of the larger Southern California music scene. We also have great staff and volunteers who smoothly tackle any production challenges that come up.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
