Hello friends and supporters…
I’ve got a batch of new songs and am ready to start work on my 20th career album called “Where the Good Way Lies.” The album title derives from Jeremiah 6:16:
Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way lies, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
It has been pointed out that several of the new songs have strong resurrection themes… however I wouldn’t call it an Easter album. But it is a “love” album. Given the current refugee crisis and our obvious and understandable fear of opening our borders to welcome victims of hatred, it seems we need to ask ourselves if we have the courage to love, and to trust that the real vulnerabilities inherent to love are also part of the call to be people of God.
I’m looking forward to this project. Not only because of the songs coming down the pike, but also because of the unique way we’ll be recording. Let me explain:
My manager/producer Dave Zeglinski is a master at old-school analogue recording (as opposed to digital). I’m talking about the big 2-inch reel-to-reel tape machines my generation of musicians grew up recording on until the mid-to-late ’90s. Even though we made the switch to digital a couple decades ago, Dave and I kept all that old gear. Audiophiles argue that even though it is much less efficient, it still sounds better than digital.
So… just for the fun of it, we’re going to resurrect some very fine pieces of once state-of-the-art machinery and record the album old-school (see video above). Certainly we’ll press CDs, but we will press to vinyl records as well, for those of you who would like to follow through with the complete analogue process. (A free digital download will come with the purchase of the LP.)
Opportunity for Partnership
To help with the costs of production, I have been both privileged and blessed in the past to receive funding from a foundation called FACTOR (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Record), to help with recording and marketing of my projects. Unfortunately, I’ve come to the end of that support and so I need community support more than ever.
Truly, patronage is the only way to do this work anymore. To continue my work, I need to convince you, the wider community, of the social value of this vocation.
Would you like to partner with me on this? We hope to yet raise $20,000, which by no means covers all the costs of a recording project, promotion and touring. But it would sure take the edge off of the risk and free me up to pursue the task with confidence and focus.
The funds we're asking for do not cover the full cost of production, so if this campaign exceeds the $20,000 we hope to raise, we will be more than pleased to have the pressure of project costs (including promotion and tour) further relieved.
I am very aware that I am more than fortunate to have done this work as long as I have. Thank you so very much for your support.

Risks and challenges
1) TAX RECEIPTS: There are no tax receipts given for Kickstarter projects. If you prefer not to receive any of the above rewards, but would like to make a tax receiptable donation to Steve Bell through IncarNATION Ministries, visit http://stevebell.com/support/.
2) RISKS AND CHALLENGES: Steve’s "Where the Good Way Lies" project is well underway and completion is estimated for release mid-September. If the amount that we are seeking is not obtained, we will pursue alternate fundraising options.
3) STRETCH-FUND GOALS: If this project exceeds the “ask” of $20,000, the funds will go toward additional promotion & touring costs.
4) YOUR PLEDGE: Your credit card will not be charged until the Kickstarter project is successfully funded.
5) YOUR REWARDS: After the Kickstarter project is over, you will be contacted regarding shipping, etc. Once Signpost Music has received shipment of the project in mid-late September, delivery of the rewards will begin.
