We need your assistance in poetrifying West Norwood!
The initial positive response to this Kickstarter campaign gave us the courage to go ahead and slab some poetry onto a wall, support a visit by the Emergency Poet, get the paperwork done, and a dozen other little bits and pieces.
If you like this idea, why not chip in?
So far the bulk of the work has been done on a voluntary basis – and extra special thanks must go to the artist involved, who loved the idea and responded so positively, elegantly and skilfully to our proposition.
The video clip features two lines from Tennyson's 'The Gardener's Daughter', heard being whispered by the spirits of poetry at the graveside of a poet in West Norwood Cemetery in March 2016. These lines form the basis of PoetrySlabs' first installation for the Bzz Garage, the garden alongside the Norwood Bus Garage, Knights Hill/Rothschild Street, SE27 – go and have a look at it, while the daffodils are still out!
Risks and challenges
This campaign will help to cover some of the project's start-up costs. We have launched a competition, slabbed a first installation, announced the Stones Amnesty, put on poetry performances, and are well on the way to establishing a poetry presence at the West Norwood FEAST.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
