Trinidad and Tobago is a small country of two islands in the caribbean known for its local cuisine and carnival. It's an amazing place, with so many different kinds of cultures all blended together. Whenever I would go back to visit my family, my grandmother would always give me bottles of hot sauce to share with friends.
The hot sauce is referred to as ‘peppa sauce’. Every family has their own recipe and it’s typically added to meals to add flavor and heat. I started bringing back tons and tons of bottles, and it still somehow was never enough.
Finally, I realized: I've got to find an easier way to share this sauce than putting it in my suitcase.
Following my family recipe, we're using the freshest hand picked Scotch Bonnet and Scorpion Peppers flown in from the rich fertile soils of Trinidad and Tobago. The hot sauce blends fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs with mustard and vinegar, creating a rich, delicious flavor. The Scotch Bonnet Peppers give the sauce a glowing yellow color. The result is a unique tasting, incredibly flavorful sauce that's so fresh and unprocessed you'll savor each and every ingredient!

Trini Pepper Sauce is made with fresh Scotch Bonnet Peppers, Scorpion Peppers, Shado Beni (Trinidad Cilantro), Papaya, and Garlic.
We know how great these peppers are when they’re fresh, so we've taken extra steps to make sure that you can taste the freshness. All our peppers are hand-picked, and go directly into the hot sauce.
It was very important for us to source the peppers directly from Trinidad. We tried using peppers from the USA, but we found that everyone liked the peppers from Trinidad more. We think that this has to do with the rich soil in Trinidad, and the vibrant weather of the Caribbean climate.
It’s a savory sauce with just a touch of sweetness from the peppers, cane sugar, and papaya around a thick mustard body. The mustard sticks around for a while and mixes beautifully with the garlic and cilantro. The heat from the scotch bonnet peppers give way to a tropical and earthy flavor.
As you swallow the sauce, the bold flavors begin to fuse with the heat of the scorpion pepper. It is a chunkier sauce, as you can see a lot of chunks and strands of pepper, seeds, and other ingredients mixed around in the sauce. It’s a great table sauce, and can be dumped on any savory dishes, especially chicken and pork.
For those who are looking to add a serious flavor blast and a lingering heat to their food we recommend Trini Pepper Sauce Original.
For those who enjoy the satisfying burn from fresh scotch bonnet and scorpion peppers, Trini Pepper Sauce Hot is for you!
We've hosted multiple tastings in our home city, Raleigh, NC, and sent out 2700 samples to our hot sauce supporters on Reddit. The response we've gotten is amazing:
“I love this sauce, and sincerely appreciate being invited to sample a Trinidad family recipe. The flavor is very well balanced- not vinegary or too salty. Unlike many other sauces on the market there isn't a hint of citrus. There's a slight mustard undertone which plays very well with the chiles- the heat creeps up slowly and hangs around for a long time. Everyone should try this sauce for themselves!” - Jaye
“This sauce is an excellent balance of flavor and heat. The flavor doesn't overpower the foods you add it to but does its job to enhance it. It goes great with chicken, eggs, pork, and just about anything else I have tried it with. The heat doesn't hit you at first, but builds nicely until your mouth feels alive! This is a excellent sauce!” - CT
“Got my sample in the mail today just as my email stated. This sauce I 100% OUT OF THIS WORLD. There is none better I am from the SOUTH and love my hot sauce. Had it on my chicken breast for lunch and it ROCKS. I NEED MORE because when my son's get off the oil boats it's going to go fast. Thanks for a wonderful product.” - Martha C.
“We received a sample of the sauce and OMG it was delicious, it was really spicy but my husband and I couldn't stop eating it ... we put it on our steak we can't wait to buy some ..we recommend it 100% if you are looking for a spicy hot sauce with an amazing taste!” - Blanca D.
“Absolutely 5/5 hot sauce. The flavor is perfect - the scotch bonnet peppers are really the star of the show. They bring such a wonderful, slow heat to the sauce that really lingers with you after you've eaten the food. This stuff tastes just like the Trinidadian sauce I had as a kid. Suffice to say, you will want to put it on everything once you've tried it.” - Thomas V.
“I got my sample and honestly, the best hot sauce I have ever had. It pairs perfectly with beef, pork, chicken and fish.” - Anthony A.
What to try it with
First, try Trini Pepper Sauce with your favorite dishes. It goes really well with meat such as Chicken, Steak, and Fish (a very popular staple in Trinidad) because it adds a little heat to the meat.
We also recommend trying it with vegetables, as the heat can accentuate the flavor of the vegetables, especially vegetables that have a sweet taste to them.
Last, but not least, the sauce goes perfectly with sides like rice, corn, or mashed potatoes. A lot of our fans eat them with eggs, biscuits, and more!
Second, mix Trini Pepper Sauce to make a dip! Mix Trini Pepper Sauce with Sour Cream to make an amazing chip dip, or with Cream Cheese to make a spread!
Third, try making food from Trinidad! We recommend trying a couple of recipes from Trinidad, just to see what the authentic hot sauce experience is like!

I’m Mustafa Mannan. I live and work in Raleigh, NC, but I spent my childhood summers with my family in Trinidad, where I developed my passion for hot sauce. I’ve been lucky to recruit an extremely talented team who is dedicated to working day and night to make sure everyone can taste this hot sauce!
I’m partnering with Darren and Lance Cassidy, founders of DXLab, to bring this product to market. We’ve also collaborated with Nicholas Sailer of Praxis to help bring the story of the hot sauce to life.
What we’ll do with the Kickstarter funds
We're launching this Kickstarter to raise money for our first large scale production run, to bring our hot sauce to the world! We've already successfully completed a preliminary run so that we could get the experience and perfect the process. Now, we need your help to raise $15,000. This money will allow us to:
- Import a new batch of peppers directly from Trinidad and Tobago.
- Produce several thousand bottles of Trini Pepper Sauce for our first production run.
- Get certifications for Kosher, Non-GMO, and gluten-free.
- Order more bottles and ingredients at the same time to drive costs down.
- Adjust and add new heat levels and flavors.
- Develop more online presence and improve website.
- Spread Trini Pepper Sauce to popular festivals, grocery stores, restaurants, and more!
- 1891: The matriarch of the family, Panchita, using local ingredients to imitate and mimic her spicy indian heritage, develops the secret pepper sauce recipe we still use today.
- 2014: Mustafa gets the idea to produce and share Trini Pepper Sauce across the world.
- 2014 - 2016: Mustafa holds multiple tastings, and revises the recipe and the brand.
- July 2016: Mustafa flies to Trinidad, secured the shipment of peppers as well as the import permits.
- August 2016: The first small scale batch was produced to refine the production recipe.
- September 2016: Kickstarter Launch
- October 2016: Kickstarter ends, manufacturer contracts are finalized
- November 2016: Import peppers, begin production, and ship!
