SIERRA is about a young woman named Charlie. She lives in the big city of San Francisco, and while she's moved there to live out her dream, she's a little stuck. One night, she receives a phone call from her mother and learns someone very dear to her is dying. That someone is her horse she had growing up.
Charlie doesn't look the part, but her entire upbringing was in the country on a ranch. What follows is an opportunity for her to say goodbye to her childhood pet and friend, reconnect with her family, and ultimately...herself.
The film touches on a lot of personal struggle with your identity and rejecting a part of you and coming to terms with how your past shapes your present. It allows you to experience the differences between the dense, happening city and the vast, open landscapes of what's left of the true wild west.
Our hope is that the setting of being on a ranch and free from the buzz of the city is an experience we can share with you in this movie. This is a project that means a great deal to everyone involved, and we so much want to get it to production. We think it will be something beautiful, and something that will move you.
In order to create this film though, we do need some help. Luckily, we already have a beautiful ranch with tons of horses and longhorns to use in glorious Colorado! The only trick is getting our amazing cast and crew out there, and then feeding them (and providing a constant and immediately accessible flow of caffeine).
We know times are tough for everyone, and any donation, be it $5 or $100, will be sincerely appreciated. And if you can’t donate any money, if you share this page with people you know, that’s another way of making a huge contribution in helping this project.
Thank you so much for visiting our page, and we wish you all the best in your own film endeavors!
We are offering Spotted Fever Ranch visits for our $1,000 donators and above. (The $2500 donation selection includes writer/director Chelsea Christer flying to the ranch with you to give you a personal tour and horseback riding lessons--if you need them) And she's a lot of fun. Here is a video preview of Spotted Fever Ranch:
