Goner is a long-standing, well-loved musical institution, looking to please fans and enthusiasts with an excellent fourth album.

Hello all. Our band is called Goner and we're based out of Raleigh, NC.
We're a long-standing independent group and a veritable North Carolina musical institution, making our upcoming 4th album (Faking The Wisdom) on our own. Some of our peers have strongly suggested using Kickstarter, and we're impressed with all the successful projects on the site. Raising money from friends, family, and fans (old and new) will help us make this album, and it also lets donors be a part of the experience.
This album will be recorded at three different studios, and will feature vocals, synths, drums, bass, guitar, accordion, piano, loops, and guest musicians (cello, banjo, tuba, etc). We're setting $8000 as the goal. That isn't a lot to make an album, but this isn't our first barbecue. Through our years together, we've gotten good at getting good stuff down on tape—fast. But recording isn't the only cost. The album has to be mixed, mastered, duplicated, reproduced, distributed--oh, and the vinyl has to be pressed. This will be our first album released on vinyl, and we want to do it right by you. Obviously, the more money that this project raises, the higher quality product we can make.
The days of record labels putting up money for independent artists to make their albums are fading fast. These are some of the best songs we've written, and our arrangement and production ideas are going to take our sound to a whole new level. But to do it, we need the help of righteous music enthusiasts like you.
To show our appreciation locally, we'll be issuing Goner Patron cards to anyone who contributes at any level. The card will get you into and in on several special events throughout the 60 days of our Kickstarter campaign (and maybe a little past it). Scott, Greg and Chris will be handing them out around town in person, or come by any of the events to pick yours up. Events will include a First Friday Launch Exhibit (including a busking set) at DesignBox, a full-on rock show at Kings, an afternoon cafe show at Morning Times, a cocktail party, and a culminating celebration. Details about these (and possibly other) events will be sent out with frequent Kickstarter updates. You won't want to miss them.
And the levels themselves are fantastic; there's something for everyone. On offer: three different formats for Faking The Wisdom, our entire back catalogue (including rarities), exclusive by-request recordings, personal theme songs, in-studio participation, private concerts, and a golden crown to top it off. We had a great time creating all these fun and different ways to get folks involved and show our gratitude. Thanks in advance--and let's have a blast.
So watch the short film Greg made, listen to the two tracks we've (mostly) finished (here: http://goner.bandcamp.com), and check out all the goodies we're offering you for your support. Together, we can do it!
Thanks again and keep rocking.
