Who Likes drinking great beer with friends in an incredible taproom?
We do, and we're kind of hoping that you do too! This kickstarter kind of depends on it.
Apex Aleworks and Taproom is opening this September, and we want you to be involved. We're building a place to come together in pursuit of a common goal: Making good friends and great beer.
With your help, funds from this Kickstarter campaign will be used to upgrade our existing plans for our 1500 square foot taproom allowing us more creativity and flexibility.
Our main goal is to create a community and destination based brewery and taproom with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where we can all come together for the love of beer.
A Unique Experieance
Have you ever wanted to buy your friend a beer, but they couldn't join you? One of the features in our taproom will be our "beer board" where you will be able to buy a friend, a veteran, a first responder, or a complete stranger for that matter, a beer that will be waiting for her/him the next time s/he comes in -- or claim one sent to you! This is only one of the cool features we'll have waiting for you.
We are committed to 10 special release beers per year. A Local charity will be chosen and $1 of each pint sold of that beer will be donated to them. We want to give back to the community that gives us so much.
Who Are We?
Jeremy Parratt fell in love with home brewing roughly thirteen years ago. Deciding there needed to be a better way to find a large selection of quality ingredients, and have them on hand for brew day, he opened Apex Brew Wares in his basement seven years ago. Business boomed and after two years it quickly became apparent he need a bigger commercial space and moved into a brick and mortar storefront in Independence, Missouri. Jeremy's vision is to build a homebrew and bbq supply, brewery and taproom under one roof.
In order to make this vision a reality, he has recruited Tony DiPlacito and Josh Sartin to achieve this goal.
Tony DiPlacito, a wildly passionate home brewer of eight years, joined Apex Brew Wares as a part time employee after his wife, not wanting to hear one more word about beer, asked Jeremy to please employ him in the summer of 2015. Doing what he loves, Tony currently spends Saturday discussing brewing techniques with customers. With over 230 brew sessions and over 40 proven recipes, Tony will be filling the role of Head Brewer.
Josh Sartin, a life long KC native, grew to enjoy craft beer in the early 2000s. Enjoying the time spent at many craft beer breweries and working at a local taproom, Josh decided he wanted to get to know the beer world even more and see what it takes to open and be a part of the local growing Kansas City beer community. Josh will be joining Apex Aleworks as all things taproom. That is, if he grows his beard back...
What Can I Expect on Tap?
So glad you asked. Tony and Jeremy are both classic style brewers. What does that mean? We like to think we brew good, solid, classic American and Continental style ales and lagers. We think there's a space for session strength beers. We would like you to be able to come in, hang out and spend some time with us while enjoying a few beers.
Don't panic! We'll have a selection of special release and barrel aged beers on tap as well!

The Plan and Timeline:
We are planning on having the taproom and brewery open to the public around September 1st. We have filed for city, county, state and federal brewing permits, have building permits in hand, and have started build-out. The brew system has been paid for and ordered. We are looking to have our brew system in place around July 20th.
Who We'd Like to Thank.
You of course, for even considering to be a part of this. You're going to make a big difference in our taproom buildout.
We need to thank our families, who we are seeing a lot less of lately, for their support. Without it, we couldn't make this happen.
Mac Lamken for his time doing our engineering drawings and getting them to the city.
The Rockstars over at Reactor Design Studios for their time to get to know us and designing a kick ass logo in time for this Kickstarter to go live!
John Sproules, Jimmy Gai, Ernie Cockrum, and Jeff Witte for helping us with demo, plumbing and the build out yet to come.
Nigel Woodberry for the awesome video you've hopefully watched.
Pete Dulin with Flatland KC for helping us break the news to the beer community.
Alana Broyles with Eleven Three KC for the continued social media updates on our progress.
And all the members of Kansas City Bier Meisters, ZZ Hops, and Missouri Mashers homebrewing clubs, whose exchange of ideas and shared brew days helped us become the brewers we have become. We'll never stop learning or sharing.
Risks and challenges
Look, any new business has risks involved. We are mitigating that risk by self-investment in the project, handling all of the buildout we can, and assembling a crack team.
Fortunately, for Apex Aleworks, we will be the first brewery open in Independence, meeting untapped demand in the surrounding communities.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
