Brought to you by NMB Creations, this tactical rollerball pen has not only been tastefully crafted, with inspiration rising from the way an AR-15 is built, but it is also professional and tough enough to withstand anything you can throw at it. Each pen is machined, anodized, anti-microbial coated, then assembled and inspected by hand.

Due to the very intricate detail on the pen, the setup costs and hourly rates in the US for machining are very high. In order to bring you this amazing and competitive price, the machining will be done overseas. I have already completed a test run of 50 pens with my manufacturer and their quality is outstanding. With this, I warranty all my pens for a year on defects in machining and coatings that were not caused by the user.
Every pen, after it is machined and anodized is sent to a company that specializes in coating medical equipment to prevent bacterial infections and sepsis. After being coated, the pens are then shipped back and assembled by hand. The coating forms silver oxide, which continually releases silver ions. Silver ions are positively charged and are attracted to negatively charged bacteria; the silver ions then bind to the DNA of the bacteria. This binding to the DNA stops bacterial replication and cell respiration, with the end result of bacterial death. Here is an illustration for all you visual people out there!!!
I have always enjoyed quality pens and writing in general. While attending college I was writing a paper on stem cell research and realized that I wanted an awesome pen that stood out from the rest, but still laid ink on the paper flawlessly. This is when the light bulb came on, why not create my own pen? I looked at previous pen projects on kickstarter and noticed the success that most of them had and said Ill give it a shot.The inspiration to create this pen came from a combination of things; my fascination with quality writing instruments, my career in the medical field, and support of the 2nd Amendment. I wanted a pen that was aggressive, tough, but yet still professional and aesthetically pleasing. When I started working in a hospital I took my pen everywhere and always had to disinfect it; this is when the idea of adding an antimicrobial coating popped into my head. What was eventually created was the STRYKER: Tactical Rollerball Pen that writes flawlessly, looks attractive, is tough, and continually kills bacteria.
I went through many ideas, renderings, and sketches as you can see below. With the help of my friend Grant Takara, I was finally able to take my sketch to reality. Concept 3 is what becomes the final design with a few changes.
After finally getting the design from my head to paper and then into a digital rendering, the next step was prototyping. My first prototype of the pen was 3D printed and actually came out better than expected. This first prototype I did in clear so I could see how all the parts fit inside the pen; this allowed me to correct some measurement issues and tweak a few things like mounting for the clip.
After making the needed corrections to the first prototype I went ahead and ordered another 3D print just to make sure everything is perfect before we started spending the big bucks getting this pen machined, so here is the first working prototype 3D printed in Vero Black.
It felt so good to have something to hold that actually worked, it was an amazing feeling and sense of accomplishment. After getting the working prototype finished and making a few minor adjustments for perfection we were finally ready to machine the pens.

July: Funding ends and is processed by Kickstarter. Survey will be sent out to every backer to claim reward.
Late July/Early August: Funds should be available for withdrawal from Amazon.
Early August: Place order to have pens machined. Order ink cartridges, parts, and pen cases.
Late August/Early September: Pens received from machinist. Ship pens out to get anodized, PVD and antimicrobial coated. All parts should have arrived by this time.
Late September/Early October: Pens received from being anodized and coated. Hand assembly, inspection, packaging, and off to you!
October/November: Pens at your door!!! Just in time for Christmas!!

Risks and challenges
Well all the risk has pretty much been eliminated. All prototyping has been done, machinists on standby, parts to hand finish the pens are acquired/on standby, cases ready to be ordered and so on.
What remains are the challenges. In order to bring this very awesome pen to life and keep the manufacturing costs down, I will need my initial order to be quite large. This is where you Kickstarters come in, If we meet or exceed the pledge amount, this will solve our challenge of manufacturing costs and allow us to bring this awesome pen to life and pursue future products.
